Title: Do I still need a run capacitor?
Post by: Jake777 on September 27, 2016, 11:23:59 am
Not very experienced at all when it comes to wiring this is my first project when it comes to this stuff. I am re-wiring my westinghouse wd10 and I have two new fan motors that are single phase. Does this mean I no longer need the run capacitor? I've attached my wiring diagram below. So If I no longer need it I would just connect the fan motor wires to the number 2 & 3 terminals as opposed to numbers 4 & 5 as it was originally, correct? And then for the condenser fan motor the two wires would connect to the run winding and common terminals on the compressor?

Yep, you don't need the phase-split / run capacitor with the new single phase replacement motors, The Evap' fan-motor will wire across terminal no.s 2 & 5, & the Condenser fan-motor will wire across terminals "W" & "B"
