I started to tear down the ideal 55 today and ran into a snag. What is the proper way to remove the liner? Do you take the cooling lines from the compressor and then feed them through the liner hole and then remove it? What do you guys do '<img'> Any other tips or info would be greatly appreciated. Do you have to recharge the system after R&I . Thanks

Do not remove Ideal liners unless necessary for refrigeration reasons, just sand / mask and paint! The compressor unbolts and swings out of the way for compartment cleaning and painting
No reason to discharge then recharge a 55 if it ain't broke!

That sucks . But I guess that's the easiest. So I take it you can recharge these? I was wanting to sand blast the whole thing inside and out and remove the compressor. So nothing will rust down the road. And paint inside and out to do it right , is this what every one has done on there's '<img'>

Not everyone... I took my liner out.  Here's the thread on that exercise.  It was a lot work but I got lucky and was able to get it out without hurting the lines.

I will be asking more Questions down the road I'm sure '<img'>  Does any one sell the rivets for the breaker strips or do you just leave them attached to the liner?

I didn't listen to Jim either. What could have been a 2 week project ended up taking 2 years to complete. 2 Weeks on the bodywork......then 1 1/2 years before I took it to have the cooling redone!  ':p'

I'm moving right along with the project. The machine has been completely gutted , even the compresor has been pulled out, I removed the lower pan and removed the brace to pull the compresor out through the top all together. It will be getting sand blasted this weekend and then body work to follow. I'm taking pic of every step. These are actually a lot of fun to work on '<img'>
