Vendo 39 Tweaked Drum

I have a Vendo 39 drum that is tweaked a bit and only fits the fingers for about a 1/4 of a turn. Thought about buying a reproduction sense they can vend 12oz. bottles. Anyone know if the repo drums are any good? If I listed my drum on ebay (its an original drum) what would be the ball park to get for it? I'm sure someone can fix it I just want to vend 12oz. bottles.

Has the drum been dropped and can you see the deformity in shape?
Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if the repro drums can vend 12oz bottles...

There are repop drums out there that can vend 12 oz. bottles.  Those guys in Nebraska used to sell one.  I inquired about buying one a while back and they were out of them at the time.  They put me on a waiting list but I have never heard back from them.

Post a picture of your drum. Have you tried tweaking it back into shape?

You cant see the bend in it in a pic but its tweaked where it slides on the shaft so when it spins on the shaft it doesn't catch the fingers the whole revolution. The three sections where the bottles slide on have a few bends but seam to be ok. I think I'm just going to get a repo because vending 12oz bottles would be nice. I'm gonna list mine on ebay any idea of what I can expect to get for it?

With it bent I doubt it will bring much. If I were you I would try to fix it before you sell it. Then it will bring a few hundred but most people would hesitate buying a drum that doesn't work. I know I wouldn't blindly buy a bent drum. It could take a lot to get it working.

Yea I guess I'll spend some time with it and see what I can do. If only the idiot who owned my machine before me would have left it in the machine.

Can you have a bushing machined to correct the drum?

If you can get the drum corrected, which doesn't sound too difficult, the price would be much more! You could also look for an original drum that has the holes stamped into the back plate to accommodate larger/longer bottles. These drums are usually in the late model V-39s.

I'd tried using washers to get it to work but still the fingers only grabbed the drum in certain parts of it. When laying the drum flat on a lever surface it is flush to the surface so that means the internal shaft where it slides on to the shaft of machine is bent not where the fingers grab.

I would take a good hard look at everything. Would hate for you to buy a repop drum and have the same issue. If you try to roll your drum, does it roll smoothly?

Yeah I am 50/50 on it, Original is nice but so is being able to vend 12oz bottles, Ill spend more time with it. When I roll it has a wobble to it and a hop.

Does it appear that someone may have dropped it? A flattened edge?

You can remove the front assembly from the back plate - I think it is 8 screws - may help in realigning things. Just make sure the weights are positioned correctly when you go to reassemble! I believe the front section is aluminum and the back plate heavy steel - if anything got bent it was the aluminum section. The back plate is pretty heavy duty.

That's whats throwing me is that the back section that catches the fingers is not bent so somehow where it slides on to the shaft is tweaked, how this could happen I have no idea. I checked the shaft and its straight so its odd. Maybe I'm missing a piece on the back of the drum or on the shaft that makes it spin straight or something?

I didn't know the drum came apart so I'll give that shot and see if I can figure this out.

Try unbolting the center shaft and turning it 180 and bolting back down. I accidently bolted one in one time upside down and it didn't work very well. T

You know what I took the shaft out and I thought it didn't matter which way it when, now I'm excited I'm gonna go give that a shot and see what happens.
