The HUGE, approx 1000 page, manual has been picked apart and this is what I have.  Individaul sections and information include the following.  I found the in depth information on the theory of refrigeration unique for sure.  Pictures, diagrams, schematics it's all there.  If what I have is close to something you need let me know and I will double check that I didn't miss something.  As questions are asked I will edit this section below so that becomes more and more clear as to the contents of the manual.

1.  Electricity
2.  Principles of Refrigeration
3.  Frigidaire Refrigerating Units
4.  Westinghouse Refrigeration Units
5.  Coin Mechanisms—National Rejecters
6.  Cavalier Coolers-Open Top Wet and Dry Coolers Models FE-3,
     6, 6V, 10, CM-6W, and 10W, C-27, CM-51V  Installation,
Operation, Service and Maintenance Also parts lists for FD-2,
     10 and CM-10D
7.  Mills Coolers Model 65, 120-B2
8.  Vendo Coolers---V-23a b and e, 59, 39, 83, Vendo 6 Case 9. 9.  Vertical, V-144, V-216, V-80, 81, V-110, V-242, 27, 33, 44,
     88, 139, 149, A149, A340, 340 Operation, Service,
     Maintenance and
     Warranty on each
10. Westinghouse Coolers---Open Top Wet CoolersWE-3, 6,
     and 10, Open Top Dry Coolers WD-5, 12, and 20, BV-240,
BV-56 parts List for Westinghouse Coolers many different
     model.
11. Victor--- CPV-500, 275, 803 DATED 1958---Vendo
     ACCESSORIES, REFRGIERATION ---56, 81, 110  HOW TO
VENDING MECH, HOW TO ON COOLER, TROUBLESHOOTING
WHEN VEND DON’T WORK, MAINTENANCE ':drinkers:'

I will be scanning each section and then as each of you determine the section that you may need, confirm with me and I will be able to get it to you as either a .pdf or put on a CD and mail to you.  Let me know how large a file you ISP will allow and if fits I will email it.  ALready some of the sections are pushing 9 megs

I will swing by my office tomorrow and bring the Big Book home along with my scanner.  I know alot of you had shown interest in purchasing sections or specific machines so I'm going to get each section scanned as a .pdf.  Already some sections come to about 8 megs. and about 100 pages.

10 chapters have been scanned.  Curled, wavey paper from being in the protectors have slowed me but hopefully this week all will be scanned as individual chapters and in .pdf format.  ':p'

What type of scanner are you using?

I know that there is a face-up book scanner on the market that will
scan pages and evens out any page scanned. (EX curved page shows it flat)
Beats the heck out of a desktop computer scanner.

I think Minolta has some. Ebay has them all the time. Not a large selection
but a few.

My states Archive and History uses one for research projects.

Just a quick update to show the stack now that I have finished the last section.  I will now organize and repost what is in each of the criss cross stacks.  This is how I scanned it into the individual .pdf files.   '<img'>

Scanning of the MANUSCRIPT is complete!!!  ':drinkers:'

1289 pages total.  It will be $10.00 a section.  This way you don't have to get what you may not need.  I'm just hoping to get close to the $175.00 I have in so my wife won't kill me. (I don't own any of these machines)  If you have already sent a check let me know what it is you would like sent.  Most internet providers now I believe will let up to 10 megs to be sent.  The complete manual came to just about 80 megs.  I have no problem putting any of these or all on a CD and mailing at no extra charge.  Let me know and I will have them coiming through the internet or to a mailbox ASAP.  Money orders or checks but will have to wait until they clear.  I hope this helps a lot of you out and maybe, just maybe, someday I will own one of these classic machines!

Breakdown of the Service Manual

Section 2       General Work Practices

How to maintain coolers and be effective as a serviceman.  Scheduling, Field Repairs, Shop Repairs and Overhauling and  Preventive Maintenance.

Section 3 and 4   3 is blank and 4 is Electricity

Basic principles of electricity broken down for everyone to understand

Section 5        Principles of Refrigeration

Simple to understand theory including history, scope of mechanical refrigeration, heat and refrigeration, heat transfer, relative conductivity of various materials, measurement of heat, table of specific heats, transfer of heat and change of state, latent heat and sensible heat, pressure, refrigerants.  Then mechanical refrigeration including laws of refrigeration, compression cycle, operation of compression cycle, a typical compression cycle, design of units.

Section 6      Frigidaire refrigerating Units

Complete service and maintenance, parts replacement for the following refrigerating units: Cavalier FE-3, 4V, 6, 6V, CM-6W, FE-10, CM-10W, FD-2, C-27, CM-51V, FD-10, CN-10D, FD-20, V-83, 6-CASE VERT, JACOBS J-26 or J-35.  Data tables for Frigidaire Capacitor Wattage, Thermostat Settings, and Refrigerating Unit Data.  How to understand a Frigidaire Wiring Diagram.  Warranty, Ordering Procedures and parts lists.  Email if yours is close and I’ll check for coverage.

Section 7      Tecumseh and Blissfield Refrigerating Units

Operation, service and maintenance, warranties, ordering procedures and parts lists.

Section 8      Westinghouse Refrigerating Units

Westinghouse refrigerating units for wet coolers and dry coolers, operation and service and maintenance information.  Refrigerating units for vertical dry coolers models BV-240 and BV-56.  Once again if yours is close ask.

Section 9      Coin Mechanisms

Slug rejectors, mechanical actuators, coin changers.  Explains what happens as you insert coins and how to service and do maintenance.

Section 10      Cavalier Coolers

Cavalier Open Top Wet Coolers FE-3, FE-6, FE-6V, FE-10,  CM-6W, CM-10W installation, operation and service and maintenance. Cavalier Open-Top Dry Coolers FD-2, FD-10, FD-20, CM-10D, FD-20D installation, operation service and maintenance.  Cavalier dry vendor Model C-27 installation, operation, service and maintenance.  Cavalier dry vendor model CM-51V installation, operation, service and maintenance.

Section 11      Missing

Section 12      Mills Coolers

Model 65 and 120-B2 operational service and maintenance, warranty ordering and parts lists.

Section 13   3 sections it was so large      Vendo Coolers

Models V-23A,B,E, 59, 39, 83, VENDO 6-case vertical, V-144, 216, 80, 81, 110 warranties, ordering procedures and service and maintenance.

Models 242, 27, Dual 27, 33, VMC-139, 149, A149, 340, A340 installation and operation, service and maintenance, parts and parts lists.  Ask for specifics or if yours is in here.

Section 15   3 sections            Westinghouse Coolers

Open top wet coolers WE-3, 6, 10 service and maintenance.  Open top dry coolers WD- 5, 10, 12, 20, 22, BV-240, 56, installation and operation.  Variations of the listed models. Ask!!!

Hello all,

Things have been a little busy around my house the last month...
With that said, I have to apologize for not being around as much as I would have liked... I will be uploading some sample documents up to the Soda Jerk Section over the next week in the hopes of making information available. As we move forward with this, I would like feedback on organization of materials, errors I've made or any other input to aid in making this easy to navigate and acquire the information...
Thanks

I was thinking that there could be one pinned topic that had a list (with links) of the different manuals and other items arranged by manufacturer.  As people put items up on their accounts, or have to remove them, they could reply to the pinned message.  An Administrator changes the information in the pinned message and deletes the reply.  This way we don't have a message that is 10 pages long! (I guess I'm volunteering for this) ':p'

Is the plan still to try to get members to store the manuals wherever they have some space so it is not hogging the available space at SMC? '<img'>

Well if you want... I went through all Tim's PDF's and removed duplicate pages, resorted pages that were out of order and combined/split files to keep pages from a machine being split across files.  I don't have room to post them anywhere but would be happy to share them to save other '<img'> <anal> '<img'>  members from having to do the same effort.

I also gave Tim a list of pages missing...  If he gets those rescanned (I think he's in the middle of moving) I'll integrate them into the docs also.

If storage is an issue, I can make an ftp site available to upload and store manuals and other info... I have 2 sites for my company that are just small websites, with huge storage. Bandwidth wouldn't be an issue either. I can setup a ftp account to upload, and I can password the directory so its only available to who you want to give access to. I don't know if I can set individual accounts though--- Its not a ftp server, just a webhost. I do plan some day soon to get my ftp server back online also.

That's nice of you Ken.   I'm sure some of the gang will take you up on the offer.  I was looking around and came across Yahoo's Briefcase.  It offers up to 30MB of storage. Looks like we may not need this now, but just wondering if anyone has used it before.

I have a storage space if need be. The problem I see, is unless there is backup somewhere the information could be lost, broken links etc... Say I have manual A on server B and reconfigure/shutdown server B. Manual A is gone.

I would be more than happy to contribute funds to increase storage space here on SMC. We could also run a mirror site so that the "eggs are not in one basket".
