I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about your restoration of your Vendo 81b..
I have seen Rod's work as well and he is top notch...
have not seen soda springs but I'm sure is very nice.

If I can help in any way, please feel free to contact me.

PS.. pat, thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for your input. I'll give you a call tomorrow

First off, nice deal.

Secondly, never appologize for a nice Les Paul.  Gibson and Coke are like burgers and fries. biggrin

John does do nice work from what I've seen. Perhaps you could meet him @ Chicago show and he'll take it home and restore it?
(Sorry, hope I didn't step out of bounds but perhaps something you and John could work out)

I sent my  first machine out to get restored, ripped off the term I will use since this is a family forum.

No matter who you go with,  be sure to ask  questions, and keep asking until you feel comfortable.  Will parts be powder coated? Will metallic parts be re zinced or  painted?  Will the original trim be repaired, or replaced with plastic automotive trim?  How will it be shipped back?  Will you get photos of the process?  Will you get the machine you sent  in returned?  What kind of warranty is provided? Do you get pictures and updates of the project?

If you aren't getting a detailed explanation of what you are paying for, and what you can  expect, and when to expect it , walk.

Kilroy,

You left out a very important question:

"Can I get it turned into an Orange Crush V-81!"  laugh Cool biggrin  Sorry I could not resist!

Seriously,  Kilroy makes some excellent points.  And you got one helluva deal on that machine!

Hi guys:
Thanks for the compliment John. Not trying to take work from anyone, but he was looking for someone close. I'm sure if he chooses to go with you John he will be pleased. From what I have seen of your work you also do fine work.  biggrin
