Well?... Anyone get that machine?... I emailed them and they said two people were coming to look at it - so consider it sold.... It was about a 45 minute drive for me.

I was told I was #2 but somebody was sending their son over today to get it.  If he didn't show, I was supposed to get it but I haven't heard anything.

If that shop was open yesterday I think I may have gotten it. censored

On to the next one I guess!

Gee, when I got my first Vendo 39 I told myself that was it.  I wasn't going to own more than one machine.  Now my whole basement is full of coke and candy machines and I'm still trying to find more.

It's a sickness I tell ya!  drinking

Hmmm....Coke, letters may be history, bottle stack is electric and  needs to be
altered or replaced, coin mech. & crank handle need to be replaced.
$1000.00 in repair cost so far plus the $400.00 purchase price?
Time to crunch the numbers & apply that money to an un-molested 81.

Doesn't that thing have a V80 coin door on it?

V80 coin door would be to shallow, They either filled the hole, or robbed a coin door off a early squaretop with electric mech.

Looking at that line up... Royal Crown had changed their logo, slogan to be more “Update”...
That diamond look was late 50s...same on the bottles and coolers...
The old embossing and slogan was no longer the look they where going for and didn't see the need to pay for dies for the embossing just went with the screen printing like Dr Pepper and others... Also bet that Nehi in the back row is the side of a Royal Crown since they did the
same to their coolers.
Wonder if there are any embossed Barq's in that mix or Huh?? Love to have a time machine
and check that out. Great pics!

The main thing is, if you are going to restore the thing back to original condition, add the cost of a coin door to the already costly restoration.

The generic RC 81 in that Photo is red and white. I have on that is red and blue. (see photo). I also attached a pic of my embossed 81.

Tom (tkaz)- Where in VA are you located? I live in VA as well. I could show you some 81's if you would like.

The first picture of the factory with the green "fence" looks to be where the workers kept their stuff for applying paints, decals, etc.  If those folks only knew the $$ they were looking at 50 years later.  Wonder what stuff we have that'll be worth a ton to our kids?

Gumbo,

Not sure if you ever saw the thread, but I was the one who bought that Pepsi USS-64 from you earlier this year.  I'm in Falls Church, and if I remember correctly, your not too far away.

I'd be interested in checking some 81's out at some point...
