Tom:

I restored mine last year.  It is a great size.  It cools at 33 degrees.  Let me know if you need pictures or any help.

Thanks Brian! I am 99% certain there was a compressor cover on the back. I would appreciate it if you could post or email me a picture of the cover (if you have one on yours), then I would know what exactly I am looking for.

I was looking at the WD-5 section of the manual that I got from Timsmore (What happened to him?) and I am now 100% certain that I am missing the compressor rear panel cover (Does anybody have an extra cover?). I won't physically have the machine in hand until the week of the 24th as we will be on vacation when it was scheduled to be delivered and I have requested it to just be held in the Tempe wherehouse until I get back. Other than the cover and the BO bezel, I think it is complete. I wish the manual had pictures of the inside as the parts list has a side to side piece listed as well as some LH and RH bottle shelves and mine only has a partition quartering off the rear RH quarter. Can anyone tell me whether the inside of mine is complete?

I got the WD-5 machine today! '<img'>  It wasn't supposed to be here until next week. It looks pretty good....except for the missing parts (BO bezel and cover). One dent in the side (looks like it should pop out) and the top looks like it has had some weight on it...like somebody sat on it. The underside has some minor rust through, but it looks to be a simple sheet of metal that can easily be replaced. Compressor was not bolted down, but none of the lines appear damaged in transport.

Was the liner on these inserted from the bottom like the Juniors? It has the same cross-bars as the Junior and the sheet has warped a little around the edges.

I took the compressor assembly out today - sort of cleaned it - added a new line cord and some compressor mounting grommets, etc. I did not change any of the other wiring as they looked satisfactory for a test run, but they do need replacing. The compressor and both fans fired up - cooled to 30 degress within 30 minutes and 18 degrees in 40 minutes - never cycled though so a new T-Stat is in order. The condenser fan blade was slightly noisy, but the fan has some dried up grommet mounts and was tilting forward a bit. I think replacing the grommets would cure that since the noise stopped when I shifted it back. Strange (uncommon) type fan motor as the whole front half of the fan rotated - different mounting holes also - has anyone ever had original fan motors rewound or rebuilt? If so, where? I'll try to post pics of it in the next couple of weeks.
A little body work, new paint job and compressor overhaul and I'll have a nice little machine.

Why can't they make things the way they used to? 50 year-old compressor and fans and they still work!!!  ''
