Title: Vendo 39 compressor
Post by: on January 21, 2003, 01:33:24 am
Hello.  I recently purchased a Vendo V-39 coke machine.  Cosmetically the machine looks very good but looks like the cooling system has been overlooked.  While cleaning the Kelvinator cooling unit I noticed that the line that comes off the compressor was broken off about 2 inches away from the compressor.  What should I do?  Do I have a cooling specialist fix the line and then have it recharged?  And are there advantages to filling it with something other than F-12?  I've got a budy that has some f-12 (or is it R-12) so I can use it if it is better.  I've included a picture.  In it you can see where the tube is broken.  Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Doug

Doug,

Since the line is broken, this will give you an oprtunity to solder an Inline valve to better service the unit which may or may not be any good... Do we know this yet?
If the unit is salvagable and after the valve has been soldered into place, the system will need to be vaccumed down, checked for leaks, solder in a new dryer and then introduce new refrigerant. This is quick description; I may be forgetting a step or two, but you'll definately need to determine if the compressor is any good before proceeding...

Hi Jim.  I've got a friend that is going to look at it for me.  First thing he wants to do is test the compressor.   If that's good he will do what you described.  Thanks for responding Jim.  This site is really incredible.
