Got an opportunity to buy both, same price. If you had to pick one, which way would you go?

It's personal choice. Assuming both are complete, ready to use right now, presentable, the 96, for the ability to vend multiple flavors.
And ok, I think the Have a Coke light on  the bezel is darn cool.

I have both (wow, never got to say that before!) and the 96 is more 'useful' as an every-day machine, plus...yeah, the "Have a Coke" light is really cool as Kilroy points out.  Cool

Now...my 96 is a 96-e, so it's a square-top but the multi-vend and the light-up sign are pretty sweet.   I do love the look of the V-80 though, and the fully automated function is pretty sweet too...drop a dime, get a Coke.  No buttons or knobs.

If you do decide to go for the V80, let me know.  I wouldn't mind "upgrading" my 96e to a round-top version.    Cool

What price are we talking about? If someone where to give you one of these machines but you could only pick one I would say the 96, if the price is really, really cheap I would just pick up both, if the price were to be just so-so I would pass on both and put that money towards another machine, even a 72 would be a much wiser choice.
