I have a Cavalier C-51, and am in the process of trying to get it running... I purchased a new lower compressor deck and am about ready to get the machine cooling, so I would like to be able to vend as well.

The coin mechanism is a National Slug Rejector 3700 series.  I believe the model number is 3713... and there is a little six below that number (it appears that it is a cent symbol, but I cannot be sure).  The mechanism is supposed to be for 10 cent only vending.  It will not make change and you cannot insert anything other than a dime into the unit.

When I put a dime into the unit it goes directly into the coin return tray... it shows no signs of wanting to go into the cam turning mechanism.  Does anyone have any idea as to how this unit can be serviced and/or what the problem might be?

I have one other question...  if I want to free-vend (in the event I cannot easily solve my problem) what do I need to do?  It appears there is a small hole next to (on the right of the cam) into which I could insert a small screw.  It seems as though I should be able to insert the screw which will push the cam over such that the crank handle can be turned.  Is this possible?

Thanks.  Any information will be greatly appreciated!

No... I'm currently from Virginia.  I, too, use CoolCat in all the forums I frequent.  This is the first time I've had anyone think I might be a different CoolCat...  ''

Have you tried a search for National Slug Rejector in the forums? Seems like that has been answered somewhere in the foruns.
I'll give it a check soon and see what I can find. Unless someone else can answer your question before I do.

Johnnie G can you help?'<img'>?

I'll reply Jas.
Hey Cat your are right on about the freeplay. Screw in a #6-32 screw to hold back the camlock.
Your first question pertains to the slug rejector. It is dirty and treating all coins as slugs.  Remove it from the machine and hold it level. As you drop in a dime you can watch the path it takes, and see where it gets diverted.
I'm sure a detailed description of this test and corrections can be found in the coin mechanism section of this site.

Sorry I got sidetracked when my daughter busted the glass in the
storm door out with a rock thrown by the lawn mower.

When will this day end?!!!?

Looks like the question was answered.

Thanks all.  I'll see what I can do about taking the coin mechanism off the door...

Do NOT remove the coin mechanism from the door. Remove the slug rejector from the coin mech. by releasing 2 spring clips located on the right hand side of the mech.

'<img'> That was close!  I was going to go home from the office and start to tinker with the coin mech.

Thanks!

'' Thanks for the help.  I got home today and removed the slug rejector... put it in some boiling water with a few drops of dish soap... waited for a bit... dried it off... adjusted the undersize detector (the pointy little thing on a thin metal strap)?... lubricated the moving parts... and BAMM!  It works.

I still can't believe how much pleasure I get from these small victories...  '<img'>

Yeah, I'm a pretty simple guy too!  Small victories like that will make my entire week regardless of whatever happens.......even cleaning up broken glass from a rock throwing lawnmower! ':p'

Send some pics of your machine so we can admire it too and welcome to the forum!
