I know that you guys always tell everyone here to rewire your machines when you get them, and here is proof.

I got this Vmc 56, nice survivor machine. I was going to use it for a barbeque just once for a few hours.
I started to get it ready and when I looked closer at the wiring and touched it it just crumbled.
It looked perfect until I touched it!

Yep, saftey first, it would kinda ruin the old barbeque like having little jr. or aunt Sally getting a zap off of the soda machine! (unless they're the "barbeque") bad joke  ':p'

A new wiring harness is $36.00, not a bad price, but the old junction box can be drilled open and new wires soldered in to save money and down time.
I order 8' UL rated power cords from Grainger by the dozen,  part #1FD87 at about $6.00 each.   They have a 3 prong sealed plug at one end that is waterproof and not only serve soda machines well, but are also great replacements for electric power tools.  ':<img:'>

A new wiring harness is cheap insurance.

Thanks Moondawg, good tip.
I think I'll open it up and see how it turns out.

If it is a machine that I will be using, then I usually replace the fans also. You're half way there anyway. ':O'

I did replace the fans, and it turns out the fan wiring that looked OK, was fried after it entered the compressor cover.

I purchase 100' 12-3 drop cords from Sam's, Northen tool or where ever is cheaper. Then cut as needed and add plugs to them.
