Title: Lacrosse lcv90
Post by: johnieG on March 30, 2005, 09:46:09 pm
Just thought I'd post this LaCrosse Here because I didn't want to "bump" anybody else's postings above..LCV90/Pepsi bottle machine I just picked up today, I found it on ebay, the owner I puchased it from told the history as follows...A friend of his who owned a service station sold the business & asked to store this machine & other Items from the business "for a while" with him in a storage barn he had...That was 8 years ago & I guess he road off into the sunset, because nobody has seen or heard from him since...and now it's mine...

The Orange-Crush sign is only a large, "cut ot fit" decal slapped over the 3-D pepsi sign (which shows through when you plug it in & it lights-up... ), but anyway, I knew it was only a "Pepsi" when I bid on it...original, dent-free, & running, $153.00 & a two hour ride up north...I've been finding a lot of LaCrosse's coming back into the light lately it seems... I'll Post better pictures of it when I get a chance, these are only from the auction... ???

Nice machine. The lacrosse's are growing on me. I never ran into one in the south but you are right they seem to be all over the mid west and north.

Yeah Johnie.  When I seen this I didn't even bother to bid cause I just figured we would be bidding against each other driving the price up.  Decent looking machine.  The lacrosses have just been coming out of the woodwork lately.  All Pepsi and all in pretty good shape too. I just don't know if I could handle one though.  I would reach for a pop and crack my knuckles on sheet metal because that bottle door is on the wrong side.:)

Plus the LaCrosse's weigh a lot more than a Vendo or Westinghouse (in my opinion).

Bingo! ding-ding-ding, they were indeed manufactured in
LaCrosse Wisconsin. seems like they were heavy into Pepsi machines, nice solid little machines, compressors are easy to service (flare-fittings), they never had any bottle-door lights, but I've gotten around that by simply adding my own... & as mentioned earlier, they are heavier than a comparable size Vendo or Cavalier, it took the ride Back down, on it's back, spend the night in the upright position, & fired right back up...

I meant a real bottle door florescent, like a V63 & a V90 of the same era. :blushing: not a 'nite light...know what I mean? I like to see all of the selections, not just the top two slots...but I still like 'em anyway!

Huh? My V63 also has a nightlight (and it's a few years older than the LaCrosse).   ???

Can you post a pic of what you mean?

Sure, ( guess I shouldn't have been typing whill sleepy, I meant to say, VF90 & VF110) Here's a comparison picture of what I'm talking about, I've installed an interior florescent bottle-door light on the Coke VF63 (right photo), [snugged in between the bottle rack & the interior wall ]the VF63 which unlike the Faygo VF90 (Left photo) & VF110's didn't have a full-length bottle door light, just the little 10 watt "nite-light" , (as do the LaCrosse's), it simply makes the machine look like it should (in my opinion anyway, for what that's worth...   :p )

anyway, I've got the lock drilled out & came up with $2.10 in nickels left in the coinmech, the latest ones were dated 1979 & 1981 the coinco S75-9800B series coinmech has an inspection date of 1972 on it, the crown catcher had Pepsi, Vernors ginger-ale, & some Mt.Dew bottle caps inside, so it helps to get an idea of when the machine was last in service, (approximately anyway) it's missing four shelves, funny how they always disappear) & the compressor fan just quit, (typical) but on the bright side a chimpmunk left me a nice pile of hickory nuts & acorns packed into the fan shroud   , so now to remove the lightup sign & get rid of the Orange Crush decal to let the 3D Pepsi button sign once again...

Nice looking machine johnieG!
I darn near bid on that machine, but as the saying goes, when you snooze you lose.
Glad it went to someone who will appreciate it.
