Hey this bottle is from Spartanburg SC. I thought it was really neat. Any idea on history or era. I looked through some dealers and stuff on the net, but could not find this bottler.

Thanks

I think the old straight sided coca cola bottles are cool. At one time I collected them but got away from them over the last couple of years. I probably had 50 ambers, 100 green and clears, and even had a few purple ones.

It's Old yeah..created before Coke made bottlers use one standard  bottle, the green 6.5 oz hobbleskirt which was patented on November 16, 1915. before this time, bottlers could design and use any bottle they wanted, therefore you find many different versions/shapes and colors of bottles. it's hard to determine value on bottles, it's just like everything else , It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for the item.
Good luck... ebay would probably be your best route on determining value, but would imagine to be between 2- 100 dollars... I know nut much of a range, but don't want you to plan on retiring after you sell it. Good luck! '<img'>

It's not going to be for sale... Well maybe if I could retire! I just read quite a bit about bottles and didn't see this one or the bottling facility in Spartanburg. Thought it might be unique to the many that are ou there. Thanks for the feedback Signguy.

I have a few. I can usually pick them up for 50-180 bucks for nice clean bottles.

Cool, I paid $29.00 with shipping. Not bad I guess... After almost paying $75 bucks for a metal carrier, I'm a little gun shy now that you guys told me their (and I saw them) on e-bay for $9. Thanks for the input

Cool bottle... I have a few... but I mostly collect the hobbleskirts now
cheaper and easier to find... well kinda... they're all getting harder
to find. And I have a complete set of the 12oz., thanks to Dr Galaga,
in a near mint 24 bottle 12oz crate.
Ya gotta have a few crates of emptys to sit by the machines! '<img'>

I'm trying to get an embossed and ACL from all cities in Indiana (just one from each city, not every kind from each city).  I have also been picking up some local turn of the century bottles from a guy in the next county.  After hearing about the price of some of these straight sided Coke bottles from the guy I think I'll stick to hobbleskirts!  '<img'>

Hey Doc! Do they have to be mint... Or just nice... I'm picky...most
of my hobbleskirts are mint/near mint.... I wouldn't buy rough
but if a few small chips here and there don't bother you I'll keep a look out for you... send me a list of what you have or what you're looking for unless
you don't care if you get doubles and a price range. I look all the time...

Thanks for the offer Eric.  They don't have to be mint, just nice (some case wear is fine).  Let me double-check my list and I'll PM you later in the week.

I live in Spartanburg and the bottling plant is still there, but they just use it as a distribution warehouse.

That's cool, let me know if you need anything from the Nashville area. I'm down there quite a bit on business for Drive Automotive and Spartanburg Steel. Soon to be servicing LSP which is building there now.

I also travel Tennessee, Lower North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi (actualy had to say it fast to spell it), and the lower part of Indiana above Louisville.

That's another reason I bought the bottle been there quite a bit.

I have no room for anything else and the wife is mad about it too. The garage is full of car parts, Coke and Pepsi machines, and a Camaro. I have stuff spread out at the inlaws and parents house. Hope to start on a new garage soon. Thanks for the offer, may need something some day. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

I got my coke bottle today... Holding it and imagining someone drink an ice cold coke 100 year ago. How cool is that...

It looks like it could be cleaned up inside Yaye vs. Naye?

The best way to remove hardwater stains etc is tumbling. It can be costly as some bottles dont make it. Ive never done this myself but have always wanted to. Do a search on google or yahoo on bottle tumbling there are a few great sites out there for this.

Funny you say that you wonder who drank out of it....
I think about that will all my stuff.... What conversations where
made over the old phones I have.. they probably could tell you
a lot about World War II and other world events.... Pumps could brag
about what type of model car pulled up for a dollars worth of gas
and these machines have seen all types of people from all walks of life
and the differnet generations stop to get a cold soda.
What all this stuff has seen... Makes me feel good that I've been lucky
enough have saved some of these time machines. Love this hobby.

he got from my old high school. I used that machine years ago,
I sure would like to buy it!
