I just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be gone for a while. I am going back to Singapore to help my father with his company there. I will still have internet access and I will check in from time to time but I don't expect to have much free time. I am expecting to be gone about a month to possibly a month and a half. I am leaving tuesday morning. I shut down the shop for now and most everything is now in storage although Kate is still working on her welding projects. I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't abandoned the site or restoring machines. I will be back soon. '<img'>

Josh, you will be missed (even though you will still check in at times).
Travel safely and know that we are thinking of you.
Greetings to your pa from us.
Try to send me a text message from there. We may still be able to text.
Take care.

Well I am off to Singapore in the morning. It looks like I am going to be there alot longer than a month. As of right now I am comming back in mid June but that looks like it will only be a visit. If this new product takes off I could be there for a few years. I hope to possibly make some money with my father and then come back in a few years and restore machines and cars full time with my Dad. All of the contents of the shop are now in storage here in Cincinnati waiting for me to get back and finish the restorations. I destroyed the paint job on the transition V56 in the move so I am hoping when I get back to strip it down and do it in Rc Cola like I should have done all along. Well I will make sure to check in every couple of days. Thanks to everyone for being an extended family to me over the past few years. This is the best forum on the web.

The population is about 85% chineese, but the national language is English. Most all of the food is either Chineese, Vietnamese, or Thai. They do have Mc Donalds, Tony Roma's, and a Hard Rock Cafe so I can get Ok American food every now and then. You can find most things at the store and I love to cook so I should be in good shape. I am really nervous. This is an unexpected trun in my life.

Lot of money to be made in that part of the world, wish you great success!! When I was there the Hard Rock was great fun. Have a Tiger beer for me :-) The food at the Planet Hollywood was terrible. McDonalds was exactly like here. I think on Sundays there is a flea market near the the Micky D's it was interesting.
Have Fun!!

Yes there is a flea market. I will live less than 2 blocks from there. My fathers apartment is on Club street in China town. We are walking distance from the Micky D's. I hope there is alot of money to be made. This new company is going to be alot of fun to start.

Good Luck Mate.

Just look upon it as a whole new market to exploit. There MUST be an abundance of old Soda Machines out there that people are literally taking to the dump and getting rid of EVERYDAY.

Don't you wonder too far from this forum making money. When I begin my restoration of the Jacobs I am counting on your expertise to see me through.

well I am here. Boy was that a long flight. About 26 hours total. I am a little jet lagged but not too bad. This is a really nice place. I haven't had any time to do anything yet. But this is a three day weekend so we are going to get some partying in this weekend. I snapped a pic from my window to share.

Glad to hear that you made it safe and sound, Josh. Good luck with everything there. Singapore has to be on of my most favorite places in Southeast Aisa to visit. I've been there a few times and absolutely loved it each time. Keep us updated and don't be a stranger!! Let us know what's going on and if we can help with anything.

I doubt it. Not here. They are really serious about everythiing being new here. Even cars must be destroyed after 10 years. I seriously doubt there are any old machines in this country. Also to import anything electrical like that it has to be inspected by the government first. It has to pass alot of tests to make sure it is to their standards which can take several months and alot of money. That is why I didn't bring an 81D with me. My father would love to have an 81 here and has checked into it several times but it is just too hard and expensive.

I went to a flea market in China town today and found some cool signs and coolers. I am probably going to go back and buy the oval sign. He wants S$100 which is about $75US. The button above it is a repop. Beside both of those but not in the pic is an NOS porcelain button that is in Chinese. It is really cool but he wants S$400 for it. I took a pic but it didn't turn out. The coolers are neet. The bottom one is just a metal box and isn't embossed. The top one looks like the skinny coolers we have but I think it is slightly bigger and the embossing is bigger. I didn't ask what they wanted for them but I bet it is alot.

Despite Josh's assurances, we knew it would take him just an hour or two to happen upon a whole new market of old Coke machines and stuff. You can't keep the boy down.
