I thought this might be a fun topic..
What do you guys see still in service out there... For me, there is a 5 & 10 store in my home town that still has two 10 cent Ride Sandy Horses... One
was uncrated new when my grandmother worked there back in the late 1940s... Made sure my kids all have ridden them.. Both rides are still going strong...
another small shop in the town still has a old Oak penny gumball... it is that hamertone blue... been there for as long as I remember.

There is a flea market that I go to that has an indoor section that still has several watling penny scales (converted to quarters) in use.
Don't have a photo of the actual ones, but here is a stock one that is close

Here is 50's "Champion" at a local Grocery Store. I restored this for them about 2 years before this pic was taking. Its holding up very well.  |

There is a farm supply store near my home that still uses a Vendo 6 Case to sell Coca Cola and other glass bottle products. Very cool to see when you walk in the store.  Tim |

I love living in the Chicago area since we still have a few dozen of these still around. Are the Mold A Ramas in a registry somewhere? It would be cool to drive around and find them all. I know there are a few at the museum of Scienc and Industry. They used to have them at places like Knotts Berry Farm and the St Louis Zoo. |

I think there is a Mold-A-Rama facebook page that sometimes posts when new molds come out and they sometimes offer molded toys for sale. Pretty sure there is a website associated with the machine. Disney seems to be a popular mold.

They had them at Busch Gardens Tampa when I was there a couple of years ago. |

Stamp a penny machines everywhere. Like the Mold A Rama's.

The Como Zoo in ST. Paul MN has one or two mold a Rama's still in use... my kids used to get molded Gorillas and Giraffes from them...
also there is a Laundromat next door to my office that is running a 70's Pepsi Can machine,, not sure on model but running great and vending 50 cent cans of soda.

Think the penny mashers get a pass. Illegal to deface/alter US coinage. Treasury Dept. hopefully is busy with more important issues. Hate seeing jigsawed Standing Liberty's.

There is a statute specifically regarding the penny machines and relative to defacing US currency for novelty purposes vs malicious purposes. It's posted on many of the machine. I have a few thousand smashed pennies and I'm a piker when it comes to collecting them. Some people are really serious collectors! Sorry to hijack this string. Meier has restored coin op Pony Rides in their stores around Indy. |

99% of all Mold-A-Rama machines on location are owned by two companies, one in Florida and one in Chicago. The Chicago company (which now officially owns the Mold-A-Rama name) has a list at http://mold-a-rama.com/index.php?p=1_17_Molds-in-Production. It's a little dated, but most of the information is correct. A few years ago I started a Mold-A-Rama Facebook page so people can trade information on current molds and locations since there are a number of collector pages out there, but are not updated that much anymore. http://mold-a-rama-locations.com/ will take you there. I collect MARS (as they are abbreviated) and have almost 200 in my collection. |

Meier stores still have these horses refurbished and ready fir the kids. Rides are 1c.
There is a picture of one of the Meier family standing with a bunch of these rides when they bought them in the 50's

I did see an later USS-64 in use here while back. It was in a hair salon. Apparently, Coca Cola still maintains and stocks it. Who'da thunk, right? |
