No too surprising. I remember an early episode of pawn stars where Rick Dales brother sells the pawns stars a coke machine and they then take it to Rick's shop to restore it.

Anybody who has restored a machine knows it takes months for a proper restoration, even one we are familiar with.
Rick can put out 2 every episode, no matter what the customer brings in.
Logically, juke boxes, cash registers etc. should be sent to speciallists.
I have been told that Rick has a full restoration shop on his premises but running it must be difficult since filming takes up a lot of time.
Heard from a member here that this show may have run it's course, that his contract was not being renewed.

No too surprising. I remember an early episode of pawn stars where Rick Dales brother sells the pawns stars a coke machine and they then take it to Rick's shop to restore it.

Oh that was a classic and will be in SMC's archives forever............the Vendo 39 shell transformed into a Cavalier 72!  biggrin

That is correct.  I left that part out because I couldnt remember what specific model went in and what model came out.

Still like these "set-ups" better than the fights on Hardcore Pawn though.  biggrin

Yea I hate that show, would love to see Ashley get punched in the face. She is such a bitch. That voice just makes you want to poke out your ears.

So does rick even do anything or is all farmed in .. Heres the link

http://www.sweetsofas.com/American-Restorations-Couch.html

I'm sure other restoration guys have been contacted as well.. I have had the show producers contact me on a few different occasions asking me if I'd be willing to take on some work for the "Usual Stuff" for Rick as he was too backed up.. They wanted me the common machines cause they said they need Rick to work on the more unusual stuff for the show to keep it interesting..

I'm sure others have been contacted as well..

I think the show is winding down too...

I recently got an email from the production company asking to see if I was interested in being on TV.. liked restoring old stuff and lived in LA or Vegas?

2 out of three... but moving the family out to Vegas, Don't think is going to happen.

All those reality shows are fake my wife's nephew was on the Batchlorete show last year and made it down to the final 6. He said it was very clear up front if you cause a lot of problems and are good for tv you can hang in for a while. I had a 36 inch church bell on Craig's list a couple of years ago and extreme home make over contacted me and told me if I would donate it they would get me on the show. They all have an angle.

Could have been an interesting story line.  Heck, you could be the new owner of "Rick's Restoration" after Rick wins some contrived casino jackpot and decides to retire.   smile

This is the only "him" I've ever known of from when my nieces watched the Power-puff girls on cartoon network... laugh

The only time I ever watch most of those shows anymore is when I am travelling and I can't find anything else on the TV.  Being a native Detroiter, I have to agree with the Hardcore Pawn comments.  A while back when I was thinning the herd, the producer called me and wanted me to haul a Stoner Theater down to their store so they could insult me with a low-ball offer and then I could haul it back home.  Nothing doing although my son wanted to dress up like a couple of hillbillies and do it.  biggrin Cool laugh

I know they have approached other members of the Michigan SMC Mafia as well.  I would like to see any of them mistreat a customer like they do without all of their bouncers standing around.  The show is just painful to watch.  I still enjoy American Pickers because they do showcase some interesting stuff and price-wise they are probably the most in the ballpark with the real market.

I really miss the "History" part of the History Channel.  They used to do some great documentaries on... you know... actual history.   down
Just gimme me more hillbilly's in swamps rasslin' gators.  Now THAT's History!

I also think they screwed up in renaming "History International" to "H2", but I guess not enough people in the US cares about what happened outside our borders...or before there was a US.

I liked it better when the history channel had history and the weather channel had weather, or at least a descent local on the eights.

I watched one of Ricks shows, the infamous Stoner Cafe episode, and never watched it again,  Too much B.S.

Well I was contacted last Thursday with a email  they are looking for junkyards, yard sales, restoration  or picker  who live in and around LA or Vegas to do a show then the very next day I took a call
from the Casting Producer from company Leftfield Pictures. asking if I was interested  but I  told her I do not live in the area that they are looking in  so we talked a few more minutes
she took down my info. and that was that .

As far as helping Rick out no I have not been asked just some referrals that all.

I believe he goes by "Hem" rather then Him..

I get calls and emails from Leftfield as well... I have discussed at great length some other show ideas I had but to no avail..

I'm sure they are all looking for new ideas as the ones on tv now will or are wearing out..

I seen the episode of the couch and thought if Rick did this himself that would be the first project that he did that impressed me. Should have known. I would like to get ahold of these TV people. I have a idea that they just may be interested in. Any leads? I'm pretty close to LA so I meet the location part of their criteria. I've been really busy but I'm getting back into the restoration business. I just started another candy machine today.  Thx Terry

This here's a story 'bout a man named Tim
He and his son went to Vegas a'gin
Loaded up a Stoner in the back of a Chevy
Said "See ya later Ma, we're goin' to be on TV"

Go fer it Tim!
