Just watched a preview for the new American Restoration episode on Nov. 4th.

Rick will be restoring a Vendo 72 Milk Machine. I re-call reading a thread here about someone who submitted their machine to the show's producers...?

Anyway, it should be "interesting" as always.

The machine actually seemed to be in decent condition. It had the original blue paint, sign, and milk container display top.

I figured it would be missing something that would be really easy for him to find also.  I do hope it turn out decent.  It will make ours worth more!

There's not a lot of pictures of this machine available. Hopefully they show various angles of the machine, inside and out.

I had been talking to a guy on the East coast a few months ago about restoring his for him, and he did mention he was in contact with the show to see what they could do... so it could be him,, he actually posted on this site a few times 3 or so months ago..
we'll see what kind of stupid story they come up with on this one!?

You mean I can't go to the flea market and find my stoner coffee machine parts? And I can't turn my Vendo 39 into a Cav 72. Now you just ruined my day.  down

A gentleman by the name of Ken owns one and was in contact with the show, producer or who ever finds people for their show...; however, they wanted the machine owner to foot the bill for everything! Shipping, restoration fees, and if he wanted to be in the show, he would have to pay air fare, hotel and all travel expenses ! ! !
So Ken told them he would restore it on his own, forget the show!
So, I'm not sure who owns this machine for this episode...

Speaking of TV shows, I was contacted by a "HardCore Pawn" representative (on Tru TV Network) from New York a few months ago.

They saw my add on Craigslist advertising my complete Ideal 55 Vernors slider for sale.  I was asking $500 for it, and they told me I should bring it to the American Jewelry Pawn Shop on 8 Mile, because Les (the owner), liked local Detroit memorabilia and "maybe" I could be on the show.  I said "So let me get this straight...you want me to haul a 200 pound machine to the Pawn Shop store, so Les can insult me with a $100 offer, so I can then reload it back in my vehicle and drive it back home?"  I said no thanks, not interested.  I said if Les wants to see it bad enough, have him come to my house, and BTW, it's $500 bucks! She said "take my number anyway"...I said ok, but didn't.  I can only imagine the suckers they trick into coming there for the sake of being on TV.

I sold it a week later for $500.

I watch those shows because I like to see what they stumble on, but I don't believe any of the stories.  And I certainly don't want Brently (or whatever his name is) working on my stuff, even if I lived in Vegas.  He comes across like a bumbling idiot...always dropping stuff, overheating metal while media blasting, etc. Thanks, but no thanks.

We need to "antique" up a generic slider with some Stroh's beer logos and take it down there.  "This cooler was in the office of John Stroh back at the old brewery on Gratiot!"

Those clowns would eat it up!

Did ya'll watch the episode? Here's a brief recap:
- Unrestored machine bought for $2500
- Restored machine sold for $10,000 to customer; wanted $12,000
- Said the machine was rarer than an embossed RC  Oo
- Milk cartons used seemed too tall; no orange juice box used in display
- The blue paint used seemed too bright/deep
- A HUGE rectangular decal was used on each side

And It Looked To Me That He replaced the Sign Around the Coin Entry & Selection Area With a Decal (Note No screws In it Plus it was FLAT on the machine .)

Watched the show today.  So is a Milk Machine more rare than an RC81?  The restoration looked OK.

I didn't see any weights when the door was opened and it was operated.  I'd like to know what they did for a door liner.  It was cracked when they were taking it apart.  Did it get repaired or replaced.

I agree the sign looked replaced.  I'm not to sure on the side decals.  I almost liked them.

Since they restore so many machines, why did they drill the lock out?  It seems like they would have tons ok keys laying around.
