Can anyone tell me where this little piece of sheetmetal goes? I can't remember. down  I know it fits inside the liner but I don't know where and if the holes point up or down.

Thanks

It goes in the bottom of the liner behind the evaporator - kind of a deflector of the cold air.
Check out page 19 (Cabinet Assembly-Figure 2) of the VMC-44 manual I submitted to the downloads section of the site.

Thanks for reminding me!  happydrinkers happydrinkers

Your tip fixed the problem and all the parts fit correctly now!  I had forgotten the evaporator sits at an angle.

I don't know how I missed the drawing in the parts manual but I did!  Thanks for submitting it!
