Hello Everyone, This is my very first post. I just became a member but have read many threads here. This place is SOOO COOL. I have located a possible buy. I am waiting for additional info, but based on the 2 pics she has, it is an ideal 55 slider with the embossed Pepsi Cola "double dot" logo. Thats all I know at this point until she gets back to me. It looks pretty rough, but she is asking $250 for it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Randy

Welcome.
Price depends on many things. does it cool? how rough is "looks rough?" if the rack and coin mech, flapper, etc is there, and there aren't creases in the  emobssing then run over with the cash.

Hi Kilroy. I am waiting for her to call me back. I am getting jittery hoping she hasn't sold it. I think the double dot pepsi embossing should make it a little more rare. Is this true?

In the rough even if a few parts are missing I usually pay between $100-$175.

But there are times you get lucky and most of the parts are there, it runs and cools for around the same price.

At least the price is starting low and its missing parts you can negotiate a lower one.  Individual parts can add up into the 500 range.

Post pics when you get a chance.

I wouldn't consider it rare.  But its much better in my opinion than a generic non embossed slider.

Not rare, more hard to find, but very high on my cool factor.
Good luck, a Pepsi slider is still on my wish list, single or double dot. i have to much Coke red in my collection Smiley

And there is a wealth of slider knowledge here, and Slider-Bob to help out.

The double dot is harder to find then the single dot but IMO from what I have seen bring in the same money. I like the double dot much better as it is a bit older however the logo is smaller then the single dot as people sometimes like the larger embossed logo. You can't go wrong either way but the key to any slider as said here before is that is it complete? In this case the parts are worth more then the box if they are missing. To complete any slider figure these cost, rack $250, coin mech $150, and cap catcher $100.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. She sent a couple pics and says her husband will call me later with all the details. Here are the 2 pics she sent, but now that I see the 5 holes down on the toe kick area, I think it might be a Glasco 50.

How far are you from the machine?  You may just arrange to go look at it and if parts are mssing negotiate a lower price.

At the very far left edge of the pic, I think I can see the coin mech....maybe.  She is about 40 miles away. I think she wanted her husband home before I could come over.

Sometimes you just have to roll the dice and get in your rig and make the drive.  You know enough about it now and the price is starting low enough you should be okay.

On the left edge, that might just be the mount for the coin mech but I am with Jared.  Jump in the car and go check it out.  Have $175 in you pocket and make the offer.  If it has been listed a while and has not sold I would be surprised if they don't take your offer.  If it is missing the coin mech and the rack, negotiate down from there.  The double-dot embossing is cool but to get that cleaned up and repainted is going to cost several hundred dollars or more.  Be nice about it but point out the work and cost in parts that will have to go into it and make darn sure that it is cooling properly!

Good luck!

What are your plans for the machine regardless of price? Keep in mind the machine needs a lot of work that is not cheap unless you do it yourself. Also if it's not cooling you need to have a resource for that also. Just things to keep in mind.

Look at it this way, $250 is not huge money, the most you will over pay is what, $50 or $75... Everyone needs to get their hands dirty sometimes and see how much freaking work it is, and just about everyone has one project that we look back on that was a total learning experience.... Jump in with both feet, hang on for the ride and welcome to the insanity!!!

I'd rather chase down a lead and find out it was a bust, then not and wonder what I may have missed.
