Title: Help a noob with this 7up machine
Post by: autobon7 on October 30, 2013, 10:24:47 pm
Local has this for sale and I know nothing about old machines (and not many newer ones). He says he has no idea if it works and is asking $225. What can you all tell me about it and approx what it's worth? Thanks in advance

Well my guess is it is missing a bunch of parts. Maybe an old cup vender. It's a square top design. I'd pay $50.
Better machines will come along.

i would jump on it...I'm guessing the coin mech is worth the asking price and it's a little unusual.

Great looking machine, I was thinking a cup vendor too but it has a bottle opener.  Can't see any opening to vend product. Does appear to be missing a lot of parts.  Would make a nice display piece as is.

Looks like a Sure-Vend?.. may be missing some inside parts...

Looks neat and a little unusual .  If parts are difficult to locate you could always make some shelves to put product into it.  Great display piece...make sure the unit cools, and if it doesn't offer less.

Don't know what it is, but it's worth $200.00 at least, that coin mech probably has a nickle changer.

Comparing this to the Sure-vend S-47 and the Selectivend S-48 shows a lot of similarities to both.

But the location of the short coin door with the built-in bottle opener/catcher seems better suited to adapt to the Sure-vend.

The only part I see it needing is the bottle stack because the one in it has been butchered, but should not be too difficult to find.

It's pretty rare and if it's advertised publicly, I would buy it today and find out more about it once you own it.

It is advertised publicly and I shot another email to him about 7am and he has not responded. Shot another to him just now and hoping he gets back to me. I hope I don't get the dreaded response "sorry just sold". It just showed up for sale sometime last night. I hesitate to even ask in forums because I lost out on a mountain bike in a simliar situation when a fellow forum member read my post then jumped on it. Oh well what do you do?

Thanks for everyones input. Would welcome even more thoughts if anyone has more comments or ideas. In the meantime..... :hopefull:

Whats the chances of this being a frankenstein (different parts throw together for a display rather than factory)? Obviously an elementary question from a noob so take it easy on me.

BTW seller still has it and agreed to hold it until I can make it out.

Anything is possible.
Will say the coin/bottle opener bezel has had a crappy respray in John Deere green. Left some of the masking on....
Best is to go take a look see.
There is some money in the parts but don't expect a quick flip for huge profit.

Just trying to learn a bit before I go see so that I know what to look for or what I'm looking at. Everyone has had great input and I really appreciate the insight.

Had to pass on this as my place of employment for 24 1/2 years announced that we will be closing this month     Didn't even go look as I'm sure I would probably like it. Thanks for everyones input though.

Hate to hear of the closing.Guess most of us have been through this and one thing for sure,,it always works out and things get better. There will be other days and other machines,,you can count on that. Good luck.
