I really am not much of a cooler guy, BUT those are so cool!
I do think I need to get one someday - preferable the DP version, but the OC is cool too!
Do tell the story Eric and congrats!

That looks like it's good enough to display and use right off the truck. Great find. It seems you really have to be quick when one of these show up.

WOW, Eric, FANTASTIC find!!  I've always liked how you brought that Nichol Cola back from the brink of disaster.  That Orange Crush is really nice!  I'm with Tom...gotta get one of those Quikold Juniors some day!  Don't really care what brand, but something offbeat would be great.  I'm thinking Barq's...

Can't wait to hear the story!

As much as I want to tell the story, I won't.. I talked to Eric this morning on the phone and told him I'd post for him and let him chime in here but he is at work and can't access SMC from work... so stay tuned!

Hey folks...just got home... still running around celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday...

Thanks John for posting!...

FINALLY found an Orange Crush cooler! Thanks to Rod at FUNTRONICS.. the ONLY place for ALL your vintage soda machine needs!!!! You can contact them at www.fun-tronicsllc.com! (PLUG) smile

It was last Wednesday... I was at work sitting in my cube thinking how my life parallels with the movie
Office Space when the phone rang... It was Rod on the other end asking if I was still looking for an Orange Crush cooler... I said...Yeah why (thinking am I dreaming? Is this a joke?)... Rod said - Cause I'm standing by one right now!... He described its condition and sent me images via phone... but the price was high (for me)and since it was the first day and the show hadn't started yet... I told him I would have to ask the wife and call him back in the morning!!! I hung up and then immediately called my mentor and number one support, Neil!
He said - Buy it! When you gonna find another one?! Good enough for me!.... See guys how easy it is.... get a Mentor! Neil you are the BEST!... Thanks for ALL your help in me getting this cooler!
Then I went home talked with my wife... called Rod early next morning... who was already out buying stuff...was near the booth. He handed the phone to them.. I spoke with her.. got the price down a little... and Rod was nice enough to pay and get it to his place till my check got to him and I drove over the Friday to pick it up...
A Big thank you to Rod too! Thanks for letting me hang out with you and seeing some of your projects and collection...WOW!!!. I have a long way to go!
Great folks here... seriously you guys that helped me find this and buy it THANK YOU!

Now about the cooler... It's solid.... not dented and with the exception of a cap catcher, complete.
... But....  it isn't a Quikold junior... it's like a half master?
It has some features like a Quikold but differences too (Maybe a S&S ) Early version of a junior or a totally different model?... I think it's older... the corners at the top edges aren't as round, there are no pleats or indents along the front and bottom of the cooler, no supports/angle pieces in the inner bottoms of the panels or base.... the base has 2 thin support bars instead of one
thick support bar. No chrome corner pieces at the gasket and the tub is square and deeper.
I've taken it apart along the top and it hasn't been converted or altered in any way.

the embossing is different too instead of:
Orange~                             It's      Orange
Crush                                           ~Crush
CARBENATED BEVERAGES                ICE COLD

it was all orange with white letters and a black lid and base....
so that's how it's going to be again

Anyone ever seen another cooler this size?...

So you new comers this just one example of what kind of folks that are on here...  This is a great site!...  Always an answer to a question and someone to help you... Not saying all... but for a bunch of guys (and a few gals) that are scattered all over the country and get to meet up once in a while at a show here or there (or call to see how the hunt is going)... great folks... Glad to be a part of it!  happydrinkers

pleased you got what you wanted

Sometimes the price is higher, but you will enjoy this item far more than others and that is where the
extra price is worth paying for that enjoyment, and if you wait for a lower cost item, either it never comes along and if it does well you then have less time to enjoy it.............................

great looking piece, don't suppose Dave or I will ever see one of them over here.

Congratulations

The show that I found it at was at the Kruse car auction and swap meet in Auburn Ind. It's always nice to help someone out, and to see how much enjoyment they get out of getting a great piece. Eric was so excited, and I was glad I could help him out. Great bunch of guys on here.  happydrinkers

Great find! Congarts!

I love the little Quik hold coolers. So cool and they take up no space at all. I have a 7-Up. And I paid dearly for it to. But you don't run across them everyday.

Can't wait to see the finished cooler. Please keep us posted.

It sure is close, the only difference is that the word "Drink" is just a bit closer on Erics Cooler than the other one... strange how things can be so a like but just a bit different.. you'd think it would be the same die or stamp used to make these?
