I mentioned that one of my hobbies was vintage soda machines but that must not have made it past the editors!

Good luck to your wife.  Hopefully, she can beat this by catching it early.  Also good luck to you on the walk.

I'll be waiting to see a picture of you with pink hair.

Thanks guys!

So far, the article has helped me to pick up about $1,000 in donations.  When the hair goes pink (which could be tomorrow the way things are going), I will post a picture!  I at least want to get to my goal of $15K but if I get there I will only be about $1,000 behind the leader for Michigan.  Not that its about winning but what the heck!

Chedki--funny you should mention a pink machine.  I was thinking about finding a plain-jane square-top and doing it up in a pink "Boobie Beverages" theme.  I plan to do the walk again next year and I thought I could do up a breast cancer awareness machine in pink and raffle it off to raise funds for my walk.  The idea is still in the drawing board phase!

Outstanding story. Please keep us updated on your fundraising progress and also the walk itself.

Also, great way to stand by your spouse through a monumental challenge! You are an inspiration!  biggrin

Good for you! While the money raised is awesome I'll bet your incredible support of your wife is even more helpful to her in her fight.

Prayers sent to her and to your feet...

ps when in the army I found cutting off the feet from a pair of my wife's nylons and wearing them under my socks prevented blisters really well on long road marches.

Thanks for the tips and the kind words guys!  I have less than $500 to go to hit my goal so it looks like today could be the day that my hair gets dyed pink!

I will keep ya posted!

Well, we went over the $15K mark today (7/27/09)!  happydrinkers Currently at $15,677 and in second place for the Michigan walk!  I am less than $300 behind the first place guy!  My goal now is to pass this guy up and be number one.  hopefull He has been number one the last two years.  Not that it is about winning (okay it is) but it is raising money for a good cause.

I promised the pics when it happened--well as Jim Lange used to say on The Dating Game--Heeere they are!  The lighting in the basement with the machines just did not do the hair color justice so I included one from on the deck in the noon-day sun!  I have to meet with a potential new customer tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how he reacts! biggrin laugh tounge

I like it, I think if you pass the other fella and take the number one spot, the beard is next, or maybe the greyhounds and cat.

It makes you look 20 years younger Tim!
Pass this guy up now - you have pink power!

BTW - I NEED one (or two) of that shirt you are wearing. Are they available to purchase somewhere? I'll pay whatever, but I NEED one!
My oldest brothers' middle name is Pinckney and he has a thing about ducks (long story)!

Let me know what sizes you need.  The shirt is from my neighbor's team for the Walk.  I think they have Adult sizes S to XL.  I also believe that you can get them in pink or gray with pink lettering.  They are selling them for $20.00 each to support their walk.

I will check with her on size availability.

The hair faded so I had to get it re-done!  My wife's hairdresser cut it, bleached it (I looked a bit like Johnny Bravo) then re-colored it.  This is me and my wife headed to a wedding--I got more than a few questions about the hair.  Most of them started--Did you lose the bet?

Anyway, less than two weeks to go and I hold a slight lead over the second place guy!  I may keep the pink past the walk but it will probably be gone by Chicago!

Your wife looks really happy to be going with the pink haired guy.

Why don't all the SMC members dye their hair pink for the Chicago show - kind of like those guys that wore the pink hats. I tried to find a pic, but it must not be in the gallery.

P.S. My 8-year-old watched JB - he was funny/cool - I liked him.
