I talked to him Tuesday night and he was without power.  Thought it would be 3-4 days before it came back.  The gas fireplace was working so he was not without heat.

I lost power for 4 days last year and it was miserable. I bought a whole house generator and solved that problem for good. It transfers over automaticly and runs off of propane. You can get natural gas and diesel also.

If he's got a vent free or direct vent gas fireplace/styove he should be good to go. When it get's to that point in the winter, heat is the main concern.

On the subject of whole house generators, the house I live in came with a whole house genny. I LOVE that thing and highly recommend them. It's helped me out multiple times in the past few years.

I've had it go out once on me so far, but my little Honda 2000w Silent run generator was good enough to run a few cermic heaters in two rooms to chase the chill away last year when we lost power for a day or so..

Wow... There's me moaning about being snowbound for a day and you have nine days without power...

Glad you are back in the land of the living...

Glad to hear you're safe and that things are improving...
It definitely sucks to be without power for any length of time...

Joey,

Good to hear that the power is back on.  Must have been nice to take a hot shower and relax.  happydrinkers

The longest we have been out was three days and that was awful.  I can't imagine 9 days!

Burn ban has been lifted in Gassville, according to the mayor who I talked with yesterday. Everyone is burning around us.

You can come over and get as much as you want, its cut but not split! I counted over 30 down trees in the wooded area on my property. Mostly up rooted. It makes my decisions easier as this spring I was planning on thinning out the area and cutting back alot of the smaller junk and just leaving the nice big trees. Lots of cedar knocked down.
