Last fall I started practicing on old license plates with one shot paint and a brayer roller.  The results were the most promising method I’ve found yet but I still need a little more practice. 

I simply don’t have a steady enough hand to do hand lettering with a brush but the brayer is laying down a nice smooth layer of paint.
