Traded future restoration services with Joey for this ravine find mech. Initially I was just going to scavenge a few parts for another mech I have that is missing the coin block - still need that part if anyone knows where one is? Check the Classifieds here on SMC for a pic of what I need.

I decided to see what I could do with it. Everything came apart pretty easy. I straightened up the body fairly easy - got it all replated - and put it back together last night converting it from a Sure-Vend mech to a Vendo 81 mech - still have to polish the knockout arms, but it works like a champ. Other than the SO Flag extension and the shaft, it is all the original mech parts.

Very happy to have saved a mech...  biggrin

Thanks guys!
I am kind of shocked it all fit back together so well and works as smoothly as it does.

It really wasn't all that difficult...I have this rechargable impact screwdriver which works great for removing small rusty screws, so it came apart really easily. After dipping everything in Muriatic acid, I put the sides of the shell in my vise and straightened them out that way. Lastly I set the thing face down on the concrete and banged away at it with a hammer and dolly until it was straight.

All-in-all probably took me an hour or so to prep it for plating. Putting it back together went as smooth as any other mech.

But I still need LD Mech coin blocks! Anybody?? Bueller?? Anyone??

Ha ha
After 3-4 years, I have enough parts for 2 (possibly 3) mechs just missing the coin block. I'd be dead and gone before I'd get through 50. I'm contemplating making it out of wood. I checked with a friend of mine dad (retired woodworker) and he was not too optomistic that they could be made easily, but I think I could. I'd be like that ol' southern guy sittin' on the porch whittlin' away!
