There's a guy on Ebay selling a how-to article pulled from a 1955 magazine that shows how to make your own diner booth/breakfast nook.  Does anybody know what magazine this is from?

A recently closed auction for this issue went unsold at $7.99.

I think  I'm going to make a cider press dont tell my wife upside

This is what I came up with when I looed up Anorak right from webster
An anorak or parka is a type of heavy jacket with a hood, often lined with fur or fake fur, so as to protect the face from a combination of freezing temperatures and wind.

If she asks, tell her  it's a planter for the deck Smiley

Pat, it seems the term  came from the jacket itself...

Quote
In British slang an anorak is a person, typically a man, who is an enthusiast interested in information regarded as boring or unfathomable by the rest of the population. The best known explanation of the term, is the use of anoraks (a type of rain jacket) by train spotters, a prototype group for this seemingly unfathomable interest in detailed trivia.

Well I went to the libraries in town and none of them had popular mechanics or popular science going back that far.  However, digging through some other older magazines, I did see some cool soda advertisements (lots of 7-up ads for some reason.) However, I did discover that google books now lets you search through old magazines. You want  to click on the advanced tab and then set it to search just magazines. You can also specify what date range you want.

I didn't find the article I was looking for in the 1954 to 1956 year ranges, but I did find a similar article in the September 1954 issue of Popular Mechanics.

http://books.google.com/books?id=AeADAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA165&dq=breakfast+nook+date:1954-1955&lr=&num=100&as_brr=0&as_pt=MAGAZINES

I'm really glad Google added this feature.
