I got a call this morning from a buddy said he picked up a Popcorn machine, Sent me a photo and it was a U-Pop-it / Minit Pop, not really sure which one as they are both the same.
the price was right so I picked it up today and we'll it's pretty rough, but body work can be done, the biggest problem is it's missing a few parts I'm pretty sure... can anyone Brian?/Matt? point me in the right direction as to what is missing, if parts are available or if I'm at a loss on this deal? maybe I should just part it out? any tips, advice on this thing would be great.. It would be fun to restore as they look cool when all done up right... jsut not sure if  I could get it working??

John,

Congrats on the awesome find!!!!Sounda like you have a really good friend that found this for you.

As I am looking at your machine I can see that you, as you already know, are missing some parts. Off of my first look here's what I see missing:

#1 - Cooking Basket
#2 - cooking Basket Linkage
#3 - Cooking Oil Tank
#4 - Popcorn Chute
#5 - Popcorn Funnel
#6 - Popcorn Bag Storage Assembly
#7 - Junction Box Cover(s)
#8 - (2) Decorative Side Shields (aka: "Batwings")
#9 - U-Pop-It Marquee Sign
#10 - "Popcorn Boy" Decal
#11 - Cooking Oil Solenoid Valve

Unfortunately I can't see into the oil vat to see if the deadweight block is there. You said the heating element is there right? Did you have to remove anything to be able to see it?

Send some more pics when you get a chance.

Cool pics Brian.  Nice to here from you again on the board.  Is that Matt's U Pop It or is that yours?

Good to be back! I've been really busy with my son (6 months old last week!) and have also been busy at work and at home working on home projects and a U-Pop-It restoration project for a customer. Trying to balance all of that had been tricky. Also, I wasn't able to log in for some reason but Jim hooked me up and got me back online! Thanks Jim!

The U-Pop-It in the pictures is Matt's. I restored the "guts" for him and he took care of all of the body work and such. Electronics is my gig and I really love electromechanical projects.

All I have is the base-less Popperette, but would love to own a U-Pop-It for myself someday! I love working on them and know a whole lot about them so at least when I do get one I won't be lost!!

Thanks Brian for all the photos... I knew, from our other email conversations I was missing a few things... but I'm in no hurry to get them, but if you run across any of those parts give me a holler..  I'm mainly concerned with getting the "cooking" parts .. I'll handle the marquee and decals etc... just want to get it operating someday.

Thanks
