Canadian Vendo 44 mech back to US?

A number of years ago I bought a 44 from a fellow who brought it to a Coke Collectors Convention from Canada.
Do I need to do something to the mech to make it take dimes? The dime I put in always goes to the coin return. It would sometimes go thru to vend, but most of the time it doesn't.
I just assume the problem is because it was formerly in Canada.

Terry... did you try different dimes?

You may also want to clean the coin paths on the slug rejector and make sure the machine is sitting level.

Can you post a picture of the mech?
You might be able to simply switch out the Canadian rejector for a US rejector.
