Yep chewing gum is banned from the country. Singapore is very strict. You are aloud to bring in small amounts for personal consumption but nothing more than a few packs. If I brought enough gum to fill a machine they would take it for sure. But the upside is you will never get gum stuck to you shoes in this country.
The story says that the prime minister's nephew was playing in his office and had put gum on the ministers desk chair and when he sat down it stuck to his pants. It made him so angry that he banned chewing gum from the country. I don't know how true that is but it sounds like something that would happen here.
