Almost done restoring the 7up slider . I'm having trouble with the thermostat . Most sliders use a standard soda thermostat that read the liner temp . Well mines a odd one I guess , mine has a long skinny tube that is part of the cooling lines and reads the cooling lines . And yes this is orgional the liner had hanger brackets tack on each side to hold three cooling lines instead of the usual six. Has anyone seen this style and what thermostat do I need . Right now I have the t-stat lines inside the cabinet and it's cooling great , but I want to put it back the way it was . Please help . Thank you

Zadd my orange crush had that tube and so did my 7Up , for my orange crush I did buy a new T stat from Soda Jerks he has one for sliders, I then did the coiling and stuck it up there and then took some plumber's putty (True Value, Ace hardware stores ) and put up there to hold every thing in place. I wish I would have taken some photos . Pat

So Pat . Did you not use the skinny footlong tube that's attached to the last cooling coil ? I was thinking I might have to get a freezer t-stat because it would have to read the frosted tube . I tried a universal t-stat with range from -4 f to 38 f and it ran for 20 min and then shut down and only made it down to 40 deg. So I'm thinking maybe one that has a lower range . I also thought about attatching a the t-stat line to the back of the cabinet liner and having it read te liner temp that way .

Zadd , I did use the long skinny tube, Johnie G and I had the compressor up and running and we had frost on the inside of the liner, and that was with a T stat from Soda Jerks.

Do you know the part # . The one I got from soda jerk said it was for an Ideal 55 , I got the longer cap tube if it matters ? And it shut down as soon as soon as the frost made it back to the skinny tube .

If you bypass the thermostat by just shorting the control wires together, how cold will it get?

It cools fine it just shuts down too soon, it only runs for 10 minutes and shuts down . I can take the t-stat line out and it will get very cold and frosty inside the cabinet . I think it's a temp control issue on the t-stat . The line must get colder than the t-stat shut off. What do you think ?

The thermostat is functioning fine, it's your your application ( the temperature sensing tube in direct contact with the evaporator coils) would call for a lower temp range thermostat. The range your current thermostats' would be correct for an Air-Temperature sensing application, such as an air-circulating soda machine, (like a Vendo V63) , but your application is a direct contact type ( direct contact with the evaporator) which runs at about 7-12 degrees lower than the surrounding air temp. so you'd want a lower temp range unit. here's a link to Grainger, I'd use a RANCO model no. A12-700 http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/3XL05
