Well, I saw this one in Craigs list/Detroit & I got curious and took a little road trip to have a look-see, Yep, it's a VMC 340-A in the flesh, and yes it's big! (more deep than wide though) runs, 99% completed minus the sold-out/correct change lenses, & the carrier switch & the coin slot bezel...as you can see, it had a water fountian mounted on the side at one time & the water coil fittings are still visable, the signs in good shape, as is the textured trim panel, and yes, it's embossed on the front. it's solid & rust free, and straight too! and it need a coinmech, but it's not like I don't have a few of thoses floating about the shop.
You don't see too many of these models pop up around here, and even so, they aren't very popular due to the size of the beasts, but in their day, they were right at home in local factories serving up bottles of Coke.
I'm working on a part trade for a smaller squaretop that will be more practical for the owners basement plans!
