I think this would make a good reference forum and could be quite useful if we could get enough input.

What about having a cross-reference forum?

It came to mind when Joey asked if Cav 64 shelves were the same as the Cav 72 shelves.

I can come up with several items off the top of my head like the Cav 72 coin door is the same as the Cav 96 coin door as well as pretty much everything behind it. There were two different coin boxes depending on whether it had a linkage type locking bar or a straight lock bar. The bottle shelves on a Cav 72 are the same as the Cav 96.

The Cav 51 coin mech is the same as the V39 coin mech and the V81 coin mech (LD & SD) are the same as the V110 coin mech. The VMC27 coin mech is the same as the VMC27A, VMC27B (Pepsi 27), VMC33 and VMC72.

The early style V39 (ribbed) coin door was also correct for early V110's. The coin box/bracket and cap catcher for SD V39, V81, V110 are all the same.

The coin box/bracket on a V80 is the same as used on the VMC56 and V56. The V80 cap catcher is the same as the LD 81 and 110.

The coin box on a Cav33 is the same as the Cav51

There are tons more - I didn't even get into the Westinghouse coolers or uprights.
What do you all think?

Found a few more:
The main door hinge on a V81 is the same as used on the V39, V80, V144 & V216.
The Westinghouse WD-10 and WD-20 use the same liner, but a different drain tube.
The WD-5, WD-10, WD-12 & Wd-20 all used the same style caster set.
The coin door and everything behind it is the same as the WC-96T & WC-160T as well as a lot of other parts.

Hey Tom,

Perhaps listing all the cross-referenced parts/machines in a separate page/document in the FAQs would be better served...

However you think is best Jim.
I just think it would be useful information to all.
I am certain that a lot of early ST machines use some of the leftover RT machine parts; unfortunately, I don't own too many ST's. This will need input from all.

Tom.. I think its a great idea to put all of this together... I think it would be a great Sticky thread that could be added to, but maybe only by select people so it only has info only, not discussions...

Although, a forum for Tips and Tricks may be kinda good to have. Things like this compatibility could fit there, Free vend stuff, etc... Stuff that pertains to both early machines and later machines that just makes life easier.

How do you think this should be assembled?

In the large Vendo Cooler Service Manual binder, it has machines cross-referenced by the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G H, I, J, K - ie. A=V23, B=V39, C=V59, D=V80, F=V83, G=6CV, H=V110, J=V144, K=V216

http://members.cox.net/honest1/V81%20Common%20Parts%20List.jpg

We could just extend that system??

Maybe a Word file or something?

I think its a good idea, you wouldnt even need a forumn just a link to click on, have a select number of people be able to revise it. To keep it simple just use terms as C64 C72 V81 V110 ETC

Anybody have any ideas as to format?

Initially I was thinking a Word file, but I am leaning towards an Excel file now.
Machines in the columns and parts on the rows with letters (or numbers) indicating compatability.
ie.

PART               V39     V80     V81A&B     V81D     V110(SD)     V110 (LD)     C51
Mech                 A                     B             C             B                C              A
Cast Bezel                   B           A             B             A                 B

Perhaps an Excel spreadsheet can be exported into a html table format which can copy/pasted into a page I mentioned previously. This can be updated by a select group if necassary...
