neat neat neat machines,
is there a brand timeline to the logos, colourway and straplines?
eg the earlier roundtop 81 has green lines around the front logo and looks to be offwhite, versus the later squaretop transition machine, just logo and bright white
also the surevend has one of i am sure many straplines embossed or decaled on the front, it would be interesting to know how others were, [ like freshen up? etc], & what period they were manufactured
any pix of the insides available too or in particular before and after shots
great job on the machines and your collection in total
regards
GP [England]

Hey Brian,
They look Gr-8! That's an awful lot of "white"... You might have to start mixing things up a bit...

Yes it is Jim! I like to get as close to original as possible. BUT, I am going to have my 7up Quikold standard done in Green! I am going to do the next few machines in 7up green!

Quick question . How is the raised 7up area done ? Is it a decal cleared over or is each color hand taped off and painted . I'm doing a I deal 7up slider and almost to that point. Any help would be great this is my first 7up restore. Thanks

Joey, Thanks for looking for that 88 for me! I am also looking for the 149!!
Zadd, the square red part is sprayed. The actual 7UP and bubbles are hand painted on all my machines and not sprayed. It is very hard to spray the 7UP and bubbles. I would suggest just spraying the square logo and then hand paint the 7UP and bubbles. Hope this helps!

gREEN qUIKOLD!?!? yOU'RE KILL'N ME! Hmmmm.... ok... we'll see how it turns out... Acutally I think I'm going to do my junior a off white (but not too much) and a dark orange (a almost red)... I've seen Coke machine done with a soft white (aged/antique white I guess) and I like that look.... looks old. But we'll see.... Can't wait to see how it turn out....

Quick question . How is the raised 7up area done ?
Brian probably spent a lot of time finding a guy who could paint that logo so nice! I did a 7up slider one time and it seems like it took me forever but here's how I did it! 1: Paint the machine all white. 2: Mask off the machine, 7up letters and bubbles, which are easy they are de-bossed. 3: Spray the orange color and allow to cure. 4: Leaving the old masking in place...mask off orange in a way to spray the black shadow. As far as the green accent lines, as Ginger asked........some machines had them others didn't. Maybe Brian can shed a little more light on that subject. Brian, that is a real nice original round top 81, but those new machines make me think you are going to be swayed into restoring it too

Hey Glen! As of now, not going to restore the original 81. As far as the green stripe. Hand painted by a guy I know. Really awesome job. What he does is make a cardboard form or pattern and paints within it. He is awesome. You can do it the way you did your slider though and it will turn out great.

Thanks guys for the advice. The black and red areas are the easy part , I was just trying to get ideas on the shadowing of the letters and the bubbles. Ive got a pretty good game plan now .Thanks

One of the hardest parts was making little round circles to stick on the bubbles as masking.

Hey Zadd that little logo under your name it was a Vess 35 slider... did you buy it? That was at an auction a couple years ago but too far for me to go.... was wondering what it went for.. Brian your stuff looks awesome..... I think I'm going to try (when I start restoring it) is trace the 7up logo and have a vinyl decal made of it with the pat. reg. trade mark text and place the reverse on the machine and paint .. I need to do some wet sanding.. on it but have seen both red and black and all red logos on Quikolds I need to sand down a little through the paint to see what I had ... but I think it was all red on mine.... if so I think I will do a antique white machine, lid and cap catcher and a red or red orange base....

Boy, ask and you shall receive! Great looking machine! I would definitely return it to its proper identity. Brian should be able to get you pointed in the right direction.

thanks brian.......is your square top 7up, a 7up machine originally? does your 7up square top have a square protruding emboss, where the 7up logo is on the front?
