My father restored a few of those a while back. he used to do alot of jukebox resto's. The biggest problem is parts. Now it was 15+ years ago when he did them but at that time parts were nonexistant. I remember on one the rubber belt that spun the turn table was bad and he had a heck of a time getting the timing right. I don't know a price but if it is complete and the price is right I would get it. I think they are good looking.

Its listed for sale at $400 , but its gotta be carried out a basement. I think its a good price for this style box, but I dunno what would cause the symptoms.

Blimey £200.00 I'd spend the weekend excavating it out of the basement for that price...

Parts - There are anumber of sites (As in Soda) that do repro parts for most machines. There are also some that sell old parts.

This machine is quite comoon and I don't see, with the advent of the Internet it being too much agro getting what you need to get it running again.

The problem will be whether you have the neccesary knowhow to work on it. Whenever I have plucked up the courage to have a go at fault finding issues with my machines I have always had to pay out trice the price to get it right again...

I'm not sure what would constitute a good price where you are... But I'd have it.

Have you got any jukes???

Even with that problem, I think that $400 is a good price - if it plays 45's.
It looks like John Durfee is currently parting out 4 D40's and 4 D80's.  He may have any parts that you need for it. (He's also selling a complete one for $850)

I've got a Seeburg Q160 right now that is my next project to work on. Its a neat machine in good shape, but needs some electrical work. I'm actually looking forward to working on this one. I don't know if my wife will let me start a 2nd project, and my play money has all been played with right now, so I couldn't even buy it and hide it '<img'>

It says it plays 45's... Doesn't say if its a 40 or 80 though..

I kind of have my wife on an arcade game kick, so thats where my "more toys" are concentrating on. I don't have any others in line yet, but always looking to steal a few...

I think it looks pretty cool. does the bottom light up? Maybe they'll throw in the toys along the side as a bonus!
Personally I'd find out what the fix is and roughly what the cost may be from a Juke Parts vendor then use that to negotiate... if you could get it down a bit I'd probably go for it, but again I have no will power '<img'>

See thats the thing... I like Seeburgs better also, but I wasn't going to choose between the 2, but rather add another..  '<img'>  I do think I'll pass on it right now. I just don't have the time to get it, and my lifting helper are out of commission  right now... I don't think I'd feel comfortable with any of my other buddies bringing machines up or down stairs..

I want a machine in this style with the big glass top, but my wallet won't let my buy a Happy Days box... I saw an ad somewhere that the bottom does light up in colors.

I have never worked on a jukebox in my life but if it were blowing a fuse I would disconnect components until the problem was isolated.   $400.00 seems to be on the low end of the price scale isn't it?
I say buy it, fix the problem, then sell it and split the profit with your wife to keep her on our side  '<img'>

I have to agee too, the price for the AMI, eventhough these aren't hign in demand, is very reasonable ! ! !  I prefer boxes with visible record mechs eventhough your Seeburg does have a visible mechanisim, I just think the AMI has a little more character, but that's me...
As far as the bottom plastics lighting up, I cannot remember, but being from this era, I would think they would...
I say buy it, $400 is a good buy ! ! !

I don't think I would buy a juke without a visible mechanism... The Seeburg is more of a memory for me.. My father has the same one, and I grew up looking at it and playing with it.. I do like the look of that AMI box, but I don't think I can do it right now..  Out of curiosity, any idea what the weight is on this unit? Its gotta come up out of a basement.

The AMI D weighs either 238 lbs. for the D40 and 265 lbs. for the D80. AMI aren't bad machines. Like everyone else has said that model doesn't have the same resale as a Seeburg or Wurlitzer of the same year.

Does it blow the fuse when the machine is first powered up or when you attempt to play a selection?
