I'm back with more requests from you...
I would like to update our Terminology Page and also create one for Syrup Dispensers... If anyone could read over the page and make corrections, suggestions and even add terms, I would grealy appreciate the extra input! Plus, what terminology do you think should be included with Syrup Dispensers...?
Thanks again for input!

Looks good Jim! I think on it a little more though and see if I can think of anything else. One comment now though on the slug rejector section. QUOTE This is the device that actually receives coins from the coin slot or coin chute. The Slug Rejector is removable from the Coin Mechanism and is responsible for diverting the different coins into the correct slots in the coin mechanism prior to initiating the vend process. Your description makes it seem like a coin chute. While your description is correct, the rejector's true function is to test the genuineness of the coin inserted and reject slugs, washers, etc. A coin must pass three test - size, magnetism and weight - in order to reach the mech.

One more minor addition: QUOTE You will hear the term "Large Door 81." This refers to the size of a machines coin door. V-81s & V-110s were made with two different sizes of coin doors. When someone says they have a large door 81, they're just telling you in very specific terms which machine they have. This is important to know when obtaining parts for the outside of an 81 or 110 because the parts (and some decals) are different depending on what you have. Also large and small door 81s take different door liners and linkages. Everything behind the coin door is different! Cap catcher, coin box, coin chute, coin mech, etc. I have never really compared the 81 liner - are you sure they are different? Fun-Tronics has only 1 liner listed for the 81.
P.S. Have you ever thought of having a carry\counter top soda cooler section?

Great idea Jim. I assume this is for folks just starting. Here are some suggestions for additonal terms: Slant Shelf Machine - same as a glass door machine. Is a multi-drink upright machine that has a glass bottle door that you have to open to pull a soda out. Sodas are loaded onto slanted shelves so that they are fed into vending position by gravity. Clutch Drive - special screw type often found in original machines. Shaped like an hourglass or black widow marking. Square Top machine - newer machines with squared corners. Evaporator - Part of the refrigeration system found inside machine. Fan which always runs blows air across the cold coils.
Condenser - Part of the refrigeration system found outside the system near the compressor. Looks like a grate with tubing running through it. Compressor - Part of the refrigeration system. The large Black bulb outside the machine.

Thanks guys ! ! !
I'm sorry to ask this upon everyone, but my belief is that the best solutions/answers come from a group effort...
QUOTE Fun-Tronics has only 1 liner listed for the 81. Steve mentions to state what style door you have, small door or large door... I believe the linkage on the small door is longer or adjusted longer because the coin mech on a small door is slightly closer to the right door edge as conpared to the large door coin mech's location. This may cause the access hole to be in a slightly different location. I have never compared the two side by side; only my thoughts on this...
Keep things coming...

QUOTE Slider: This nickname refers to either Ideal or Glasco. These two manufacturers made machines that you had to slide the bottle of choice down a rack and then pull the bottle through a gate to release it. This sliding action is where the machine get its nickname.
Maybe change it to: A chest-type machine that you slide the bottle of choice down a rack and then pull the bottle through a gate to release it. This sliding action is where the machine get its nickname. Ideal, Glasco and Cornelius manufactured this kind of machine.
Do you guys think that Jones Plug should be added? A multi-prong electrical connector that is used in most modern coin mechanisms. This plug uses blade connectors and not pins.
Then do we add Molex Connector? A multi-prong electrical connector that is used in most modern machines. Some uses include sign lighting and additional inputs to the coin mechanism, like a dollar bill validator. This plug uses pin connectors and not blades.

Under VMC- Maybe add that Vendo of Kansas City acquired Vendorlator (Fresno, CA) in 1956. VMC also embossed machines for a variety of soda drinks - unlike Vendo, which was exclusively Coca Cola.

Newbie info? The number following most manufacturer's name indicates the number of bottles it will vend. Eg. VMC 33
