We'll I've been working on a few deals locally over the past few weeks and finally yesterday it all came together...It was a 15 hour road trip, 600 miles and came home with 7 machines and one Gas Pump! Most of these where failed ebay sales that I jumped on and made offers and Every one of my offers was accepted... and let's just say I wasn't too generous in my offers, but they all said yes... 5 different people. Started off at 5:15 AM Tuesday Morning, Drove 3 hours to pick up the Pepsi (originally Coke) Glasco Slider, REAL CHEAP!, Drove another 45 minutes and picked up the Vendo 81a out of a ladies Kitchen, pretty fair deal as well!! Drove another Hour and half or so to pick up the FIRST Square Tops I've ever owned, I've posted about these last week, and every one said jump on it. Vendorlator 56's x 2 of them in Pepsi , and a Lacrosse Machine (not pictured, sold it on the way home) Got all three for 175.00!!! THen while there, found a Bowser Gas pump, complete with doors and parts that I threw in the trailer as well (cheap). Drove another 3 hours or so and picked up the other REAL Nice and COMPLETE Glasco Slider from a guy... Then drove another 45 minutes and picked up the Partially stripped, Cav 64. All parts are there in box... Lady started stripping it and didn't finish. Got that reasonable as well. On the way home stopped by a Fast Food restaurant and inspected my load and some guy drove by stopped and asked if any of the machine where for sale.. .I told him to take a look and make me an offer... Could't sell him any of hte other machines for the 100 offer but said you can have that Lacross Machine for 100!... He Jumped on it and we loaded it into his truck and Made some of my gas money back ,plus unloaded the ugliest machine I ever owned for about 4 hours!!! Then Stopped by another guys place on the way home and sold him the Gas Pump and made back the rest of my gas money and then some. Got home finally around 8pm and unloaded.. First few photos are of the machines 6 total made it home, and the last photos show what I got ahead of me for projects this summer!.... Got home and expecting my wife to freak out, and the only thing she says is "I can't believe you bought a Pepsi machine, not to mention 3 and they are square tops... What where you thinking.." didn't curse me out for taking up the rest of the garage.. I'm tired... it was fun though!!... I gotta stop buying....

It would be the ultimate story if it included picking up a hitchhiker carrying an axe....
It must have been tiring, but oh so worth it. Congrats!

Thanks for the comments guys it was tiring but fun! wish I had a buddy locally into the stuff like us to take the trip with me however. to answer a few questions in the last few posts. 1) I did not pick up any hitchhiking Axe Murderers,,, so that is nice.. I'm not selling the Stoner Jr.. that one is going in the basement (someday)... 2) The CC Slider is complete with rack and Coin Mech and I have a guy looking at it this weekend for 650. 3) I havent' bought a nice Coke sign for quite some time now... I have quite a few nice ones in my collection and those are not in the garage, only downstairs. 4) The Car under the cover is my 59 Vette. Coca-Cola Red and White of course. 5) The Vendo 81a was listed on ebay for 1600 and no bids, I offered her $1000 after the auction and she jumped on it.. Probably could have gotten it for 800 she said to me with a grin on her face as I picked it up but the offer was set and she was holding my cash... '> Overall great trip, Now I have a TON of work to do.... and I'm sure more questions will pop up as I have never worked on a square top, so I'll be on the post 60's machine forum...
One question however is can a guy convert the non lightup front of a Vendorlator 56 into a lightup version? and also put glass in the door or is that a lot of work???

Wow! That was a very successful road trip! Looks like you have a pretty nice collection goin'.
Do you plan on restoring a majority of those machines?

TO answer the question, Yes I do PLAN on restoring them, but the reality of that is it will probably never happen to all of them. So I'll just pick on project at a time and work on it and as it goes I have people stopping over all the time and occasionally I'll sell on off as is (after clean up etc). I live off of a busy street with lots of traffic and occasionally I put a few machines and pumps out front of the house in the driveway and I'll get a few people stopping buy.. sold 2 items doing this already. I also post on the local Craigslist and that will move a couple too. I am just a temporary owner of most of them. I do plan on making a them machine out of one of the 56's.

They all say yes in the end.
I am battling with a seller of a 1979 uss-8-64 cavalier who thinks they have a RC 81. To quote the seller "$250 is a deal" I cringed when I went as high as 150.00 on my offer.
Got any pics of the vette? Do you know how much your hard top is worth? ( if its the original 59 top) if you don’t you will be surprised

I've had the vette for 4 years now.. love it... taking it to a car cruise this weekend near me. Yes the Hard top is original and I have seen them go for over 1500 or so.. havne't followed them too closely as I'm not selling it... Just need abetter place to store it , thinking of making a rack for it above the car. Here is a photo of it

with the value of the top you should buy a rack made for the top. Your vette is beautiful, hold on to it they are quickly all becoming valued in the 6 digits

Nice finds!
It's not too hard to convert a non-light up sign. You should just have to find a light up sign and run the electricity from the electical block. You may even find the wiring already run. The mounting holes should alredy be there.

OK, so now we know to make offers on unsuccessful Ebay items. I'm starting today. I will be willing to travel to most of the country since I have alot of time to take from work. Probably will be in alot of people's areas. Sounds like fun. Thanks!!

Re: Offers on Failed Ebay items. If the item was close to me and did not meet reserve or even get bids, I've always thrown out an email to the seller with an offer...doesn't hurt...
