Ok I sold a fairly nice Vendo 63 on ebay, guy has zero feedback and has been registered a long time Jan 30, 1999. The machine brought pretty good money as its a pretty clean original machine.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....=1&rd=1
I dont hear anything back until today, This is what he wrote...
hi joey. i got your email this morning. i apologize for not responding sooner, but i have been out of town and away from my computer. i am interested in the machine, however, i do have concerns over when i would be able to pick it up. i live in the jackson, ms area and shipping the item i feel would be too expensive (more than the cost of the machine). most likely i would not be able to come and get the machine for an extended period and have reservations about buying something that sits a far distance away. i know that this may be an inconvenience but i want to be up front with you. if you have a solution or would like to re-post the machine for someone else........i understand. email me at your convenience. george
Ive never been in a situation like this what would you do?
Joey

If you are willing to hold it for him, ask for half of the money. If not, just relist the item and leave negative feedback about him, saying he bid and then did not follow through.

Your auction clearly states that the buyer must arrange shipping or local pickup and you give him some options... I would remind him of this, but being he doesn't have feedback, he may not know the "rules" of ebay. I'd just let him know that you could hold it the 30 days, but if it's not picked up or shipped by then you WILL leave negative feedback. Or if he decides he doesn't want to complete the transaction. Leave him the middle level feedback and put on there that buyer backed out of deal, etc... then request final auction value from ebay and get your listing and final value back. just my opinion... Good lucK!

Tell him to "pay in full" and you will hold the machine for 30 dys. After that you will store it for him for 25.00 bucks a month.

I agree with sodaworks. He bid on the machine knowing the requirements.

Thanks guys, I just emailed him three options, paying for it and having it shipped, paying for it and $25.00 a month for storage until it can be picked up. or not paying and either paying for the lising fees, and final value fee, or niether and I just claim the fees with ebay.

I would sell to the second highest bidder, but since you didn't have one .....re-list it. The guy should not have pushed the button if he was not local. How much force can you use with a zero feedback bidder?

Hmmmm, you have your terms pretty well spelled out:
- Payment due in 7 days
- Can hold for 30 days
Since they have zero feedback, neg'ing them probably wouldn't do anything. Make sure that if you relist it that you file with ebay a non-paying bidder form so that you get your final value fees back.

Kevin C. arranged shipping when I sold him a machine It seems to me it was reasonable. I'm in MS, wasnt a problem, they pulled up and rolled it out on a dolly.
Maybe Kevin can give you the name of the shipper he used and tell the guy you know of a shipper.

The only thing about leaving a person with 0 feedbacks, a Neg. Is he has nothing to loose and he can then say anything he wants about you. If he were to leave you a Neg. that would drag your % down. Is he worth it. He can just start over and he"s wright where he"s at now. Some people are funny, even though your in the wright. Wait till the very last day of three months, 2 min till the end of the three month time limit that E-bay gives you to leave someone a feedback and then if you wish to, then do so. He will be out of time to leave you one back?

You're a crafty man Kurtis.... I agree 100% with you though.
Hopefully the buyer is just very new to the whole ideaq and will go for the pay in full and $25 a month option. That way Joey makes all ways.

The only thing is the 90 day eBay feedback thing is not 100% accurate. I have left feedback for an item past 100 days before. The trick is you have to find the listing, but if there is a feedback you can link off of it is real easy. He has nothing to lose and you do Joey, so a hegative won't do anything. I would go with Terry like you did. Payment in full and you can hold it for a fee per month; otherwise, get your fees reimbursed from eBay and relist it.

Sounds like he really doesn't want it and thought he would be outbid anyway. Forget him and the headaches. Take your losses, Move on and relist......you get 'em every now and then (deadbeats).

Life's too short to worry about it. Get your fees back from ebay for a failed transaction and relist it. It was a nice machine somebody else will buy it. You won't be able to force a loser!
