There was a post just recently about the "Press Down" handle. I agree with Glen and Terry that it was originally highly polished aluminum, which tarnished after just a few months. Has anybody ever polished one up and clearcoated it like Glen suggested? I think it would look just as sharp. You could send it in with the trim along with that extra request.

Don't forget the coin return cup as well. I have polished the crank handles and clearcoated with great results.

Thanks for the replies ! How is the best way to polish the crank handle ? Would a dremel with a polishing bit work or would it be better to get a polishing wheel for my grinder like I have seen at some gun shows ? Thanks !

Here's a nice tip for those of you that have acquired gas pumps in recent years...
If you have one that still has the pump/motor assembly, you'll find the electric motor is one of the best grinding/polishing wheels you can purchase! 1725rpm and you couldn't stop these motors to save you're life!
Regarding the chroming of the crank handles, my experiences have lead me to chrome plate them. They do polish up nice and when clear-coated, look exceptional, but chrome still holds up better over time...

USMCVet, If you plan on doing your own polishing go to www.eastwood.com and buy yourself a polishing kit. It will come with a set of 3 compounds as well as 3 different pads. These range from cut to polish.

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.
