Today started out as a cold December morning....Victor was up in my neck of the woods and he stopped by Berkeley to take a look at my clean original Cavalier 72 and VMC 44, and my junk pile of other misc. machines. End result: Vicor now needs a Vendo / VMC 44 for his collection!
We went out separate ways and I went to lunch. When I came back, I went on Craigslist and found an Vendo 81B for 900 bucks...missing some parts but I have some of them in the garage! I sent an email and was shocked when my cellphone rang 3 minutes later!
Problem was location...it was about an hour away from me and I needed to act fast...it was only a matter of time before the emails started hitting the seller in waves. The machine was only 10 minutes away from Victor though. I called him and told him in one breath what was going down...No problem, he said.
Victor continued eating lunch with his wife, finished it, politely excused himself, then drove to pick up AND buy the machine for me! The machine was in the truck all within 30 minutes of my email to the seller. THANKS, Victor! (such an understatement!).
If a handshake or someone's word ever meant anything at all, it sure did today. It's a pleasure to collect machines with people who are so passionate about the hobby. It also great to become friends with them too.
Hats off to Victor...next Coke 81 up in the East Bay goes to you...RC Cola 81 is another story though!!!!

Craigs list is awesome, I recently picked up a 3200.00 pellet stove for my shop for 800 bucks. It only had 1 1/2 bags of pellets ran through it. The lady that sold it was afraid her grandson was going to get burned from it.

Ahhhhh 81 B, my favorite! Nice fnd. Do you know how long it was posted on Craigslist before you found it? Are the listings published at a certain time of day once each week?

Glen,
I want to say that I responded to the posting about an hour after the woman placed it. It was in the middle of the afternoon Saturday so I guess not many people were online. I unfortunately or fortunately actually, had to do some business-related work so before I did, I screwed around and went on eBay and CL..boy, wasn't that nice!
The deal was sealed very quickly and the posting deleted. Most people looking for coke machines in our area probably never saw it!

The way CL works is that you post an ad, they email it back to you and you proof read it and click the "post it" button and it posts immediately.
