Hello-
New to the forum. Just got a Vendo 56 Coke machine. And I am trying to get her up and running again. It has been in storage for at least 40 years. Always stored in doors...so its not rusted at all. It was in my Grandfathers auto shop in the early 60's and when they closed the shop (late 60's) my father put it in storage.

Ooops...hit return to soon. Anyway...I plugged it in and the fans definately still work...but it doesnt cool anymore. It also makes a "clicking" sound every 20-30 seconds. Like something is trying to come on..but doesnt. Any suggestions?
I will take some "before" photos tonight and post them up.
Thanks.
Jason

QUOTE It also makes a "clicking" sound every 20-30 seconds. Like something is trying to come on..but doesnt. Any suggestions? I bet that is your compressor trying to start. Get a new wiring harness, and a 3 in 1 start/run capacitor. While you are at it, I would replace the fans.

Either Fun-Tronics or Soda Jerk Works (both are sponsors of this site). There are banners displayed on the home page and listed under the Parts Suppliers.

Yes - there are two ways. One is to make it to where you have to crank it over, but no coins are involved. If you can take a pic of your mech with the rejector removed looking down on the coin block? I'll draw on your pic and repost it. You can send me a pic directly if you wish. The other way is to make it to where you can just pull the bottle out regardless of whether you crank the handle.

Vendo made the 56 in both square and roundtop versions. Coin operation is significantly different in each.

Collecture - I would like to have it set up so that you still have to use the handle...but no coins are involved.
So I will take a photo of the mechanism tonight...what exactly do you need the photo of??
Thanks again.

QUOTE Vendo made the 56 in both square and roundtop versions. Coin operation is significantly different in each. Glen - he has a round top - I initially was answering his questions on ColaMachines.com.
Jason, You need to have the rejector out to do this. To remove the rejector, pull the spring steel tabs that are at the top slightly out. The rejector can then be pulled out at the top. You can flip it down and remove it all the way. The rejector is just seated in the mech via four studs (two each side) and secured by the two tabs.
I have attached a picture of a mech with the rejector removed. First, make sure the penny lockout lever is in the position shown in my pic. The penny lockout lever (attached by two screws) is located under the text box I added to the pic saying "DIME FINGER" and should be vertical. The penny lockout lever lifts the penny finger up so that pennies are not required to vend. What you need to do for it to free vend, is somehow lift the nickel, dime or quarter finger (just one of them) up. This can be done with a strong spring. However you can do it. I would avoid damaging the mech or machine in any way as this could devaluate it some and it is a valuable machine. Average condition V56's go for $1300- $1600 or more - if yours is in nice shape, then it would be worth $2000 or more in some cases. I hope this helps - let me know if you have any questions.
