Welcome! Looks like a pretty solid machine there. Some parts (like the silver trim on the front) you can get from some of the sponsors of this site. Other parts (like the knob) you will probably have to find someone who is parting out a machine. I know Funtronics has the manual for this model. If there are some parts you are looking for, just post them in the Swap Meet Area section.

As with a lot of these vintage machines, you may find that parts from other machines will fit yours as well. Looking at the coin door area - the bottle opener, coin return cup and coin reject slide look the same as what is in my WC44SK. I believe that all the Westinghouse MD series (60MD, 78MD and 102MD) used the same stuff (bottle opener, coin return cup, reject slide, coin box, etc.)
I am 99% sure I have a cap catcher for your machine if you need one. Before you clean up the area inside the coin door though, see if you can get a rough measurement of the dirt line around where the cap catcher went.

I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. as for the Crown puller. i have that. its actuly sitting on my counter top. but the box under it is missing. as for the size i am not quite shure yet. There looks to be a flat peice of metal for the coin mech that is missing that allows the quarter to roll down into the return change spot. As for right now the quarter just spit out the front side of it. I do notice that the cooling unit will have to be rebuilt as the condencer is all rusted up. I was told that it would cool. but after looking at the condition of the condencer i am not quite shure how true the statment is. It shall be a intresting and long lasting tinker project

Hello & Welcome! Nice looking machine! the Westinghouse Select-a-Matics are my favorite line of machines of the early 60's era! I currently own a WB60, 78, & 102. model
Yep! looks like you're missing the cap-catcher & the bottle opener and its mounting pocket. if you look at this picture of one of my WB-60's I have one Ebay, you'll see the cap catcher right next to the coinmech, it's long & rectangular, the bottle opener mounts dirrectly behind the opening on the coindoor itself. notot mention the cash/coin-box.
Nice Find! here's a picture of the one on Ebay....

Yep, I have a cap catcher that looks like that. johnieG - What are the measurements of your WB78 cap catcher or are they all the same? I don't think I have a coin box though - none of mine have an angle like that on the top left.

I would just get a new mech. You can get them for $20-$30.

I don't think I have a coin box though - none of mine have an angle like that on the top left. The Cap/Crown catcher is the same, as is the coinbox, pretty much everything inside the coin-door area is interchangable between models, some early machines have a different coin mech wiring harness to accommodate an OEM/Westinghouse coinmech, but they are few & far between, so, the common parts between the models 60/78/102 are:
coindoor itself. coindoor lock & assy. coin/cash box bottle/crown opener cap/crown catcher change funnel & return cup bottle door latch assy. coin return lever & spring assy.

Ebay is the best place. Just buy a coinco s75-9800. Any single price coin mech that is 115-117 Volts will work.

Jesse, Here is a rough shape Westinghouse WC-78MD. I'd write the seller and see if they would sell you the parts you need. The machine is junk other than some of the parts.
