Has anyone been there? My daughter and friends are going soon. Was wondering what they should expect.

Marsha,

Just returned from the area a few days ago!
Spent about a week in western NC...
As far as what to expect, I'm not sure what your daughter and friends like to do, but the rafting is fun, hiking through the woods visiting beautiful waterfalls, swimming in the FRIGID water, etc, etc...
PM me to discuss further if you want...

My six cents,

Its a very good time......there is every level of kayaking, rafting... from beginner to expert......  I took my 12 and 8 year old daughters on the combo  train ride/rafting trip....   You take a 3 hour steam train ride and they let you off right by the rafting center...... no matter what you do, you'll have fun.....

She enjoyed the trip but came home covered in poison oak.

The tent was trashed and needed hosing off, looks like they had a good time even though it rained alot.
