Yesterday I picked up my first vending machine, the last owner told me it was a 1977.  I have read a little bit around here today and really like some of the machines you guys have.  I need to clean it up a bit, but it runs great, keeps drinks cold and the coin/vending works great.

I need to figure out why it won't take nickels, and also how to change the price.  I plan to add a button for free vend, probably hidden or install it stealth somehow/where.  maybe even if it's possible to make this a can/bottle combo vending machine.

anyway, here are some pics, any information about this machine would be great.  And if anyone knows where to set the price at, that would be AWESOME.

thanks!

Good deal. Does the light work? The ballast looks a little toasty?

That looks really clean if you haven't cleaned it at all yet. A Vendorlator 90 (look under Vendo in the machines section), cooling and coin mech working with a light up sign...you did fine at $200.
Not that they are hard to find but where/how did you find it?

Yeah, the light works, but it's kinda purple-ish....I'm going to replace it soon, just need to find bulb of the same size.  I am 99% sure the ballast is still good, no buzzing, flickering, etc.

thanks! yeah, i ran a rag over it to get the dust off.  I need to take the panel out that has the bottle holes in it and clean it up, maybe repaint it...and I need to clean out the inside.  the shelves and the inside are dirty.

I need to either find a bezel or replace the pepsi sign, it's held in with tape at the moment.  But all the lights work, the vending works, the coin mech works, etc.

I bought it from a member in my local VW club, he was moving and didn't want to transport it....and now I know why '<img'>

but it was worth every penny and all the work that it took to get it out of his garage, down his driveway (VERY steep...atleast 40 degrees), and onto the trailer for the 5 minute ride...luckily he was close to where I just moved to '<img'>

Nice looking machine... incredibly clean.. as far as setting the price, haven't seen that coin mech before, but must have a setting under the slug rejector.

is the slug rejector the top piece that accepts money/folds out?  behind that is just metal..I can post a pic of that.  would it be behind that, where I need to remove something?

Welcome to the site.  And yes, it looks like a nice clean machine.
I'm not sure how to change the price on your changer.  I can check in a few days when I get home to see if I have one of those manuals, but I doubt it. Hopefully someone else can chime in with an answer.  The slug rejector does pop out, but the changing of the price is usually on the lower part.

Hmmm, take a look at this thread and see if it might help.  It isn't the same model, but it seems close.  In this example it is behind the slug rejector.  Yea, post some pics.  You can take the whole unit out of the machine and see if there is a panel on the back that you can unscrew and open up.

I'd swap out the ballast at the same time. The ballast is actauly cheaper than the bulb. If you spend $10 - $14 on a bulb and a bad $5 ballast blows it right away.....well that will just getcha mad!
