While I wait to get the vending circuit fixed on my USS-96, I used Brian's (aka glassbottlesrule) tip for hooking up a free vend switch that works off the coin return.  I went a little farther on hacking an old coin mech and cut the entire bottom half off. Makes it lighter and easier to move between machines but still locks onto all three mounting screws. I'll eventually add shrink wrap to the wires or use an old jones connector cable to make it look a little neater.

Next step is to add an on/off switch for the "Have a Coke" lamp. Only solution I can come up with is the red circuit which involves removing the existing contacts on the bulb, then wiring a new circuit that taps into slots 1 & 2 of the jones connector box and connects to an on/off switch and the bulb.  If possible, I would like to be able to add the on/off switch without having to remove the existing connections to the bulbs. Basically simulate the circuit in yellow but eliminate the need for the switch in the cabinet (which is missing) to be thrown. Can't figure out how to do it? Any ideas?

Are you looking at having the "Have A Coke" light on all the time?  If so, how about you just connect the two wires together where the switch should be?  Or, connect the switch wires to another set of wires and run it to a switch that is accessible when you open the main door?

I tried connecting the orange & blue wires (where the micro switch is supposed to be) and then jumping pins 1 & 2 in the connector to complete the circuit.  Unfortunately that creates a short somewhere.  Can't figure out why by looking at the wiring diagram.

Pins 1 & 2 are the line into the coinmech, you are shorting across the main line  ':O'
