Hello Chaps
wonder if anyone can throuw some light on my problem. I sold my V-39 last week. The buyer collected on Monday and took it on a 3 hour trip on its back. Upon arriving home he has left it until today and when he turned it on the compressor won't kick in.
The fan in the bottle compartment works as it should but no compressor. He has checked all the wires etc and everything seems to be right.
Anyone any ideas. It worked here no problems. Turned it on and off a few times. Could it be the 3 in 1.??
Any help gratefully appreicated.
DAVE

Dave, it's possible that one of the wires may have come loose, 3-in-1's rarely go bad, and are very usefull to assist the starting of an older compressor, even if the line voltage is a little lower than normal, however they won't compensate for extremely low line voltage (here in the states between 95-100 volts would be considered too low, 110-125 volts is considered nominal)
so first thing I'd check is his voltage at the outlet, then make sure he's not running it on an under-rated extension cord.
Inspect the wiring harness & be sure that the compressors plug is still connected to its outlet in the harness, (assuming that it has an O.E.M. style replacement harness.)
another clue is to observe the compressors (condenser) fan as it's wired in parallel with the compressor circut, it too should be running when the compressor is.
also check for any loose wires connected to the thermostat & that it's turned "on" (the themostat, that is). I'll attach the compressor pin-out for reference....good luck..JohnieG

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

Dave, The box that is converting the UK voltage to US 110v. Not sure what they are called. Creighton

These small voltage adapters are only used on small appliances such as clothes Irons, hair dryers, etc. they are not rated for large loads (like a soda machine) I belive Daves' already intalled a step-down transformer in the base of the machine to adapt it to UK/220 Volts ( if I'm remembering correctly that is)

JohnieG, I didn't recall the step down was installed in the machine. Oops :-) Creighton

Right Chaps
Have spoken to the buyer. It was a loose T-Stat wire. Now up and working. Thank God (And Johnie)
I hate selling. There is always something go wrong. Hopefully that's it.
Where would you guys stand... The machine was working well when it left here. It dod a three hour trip and a week later it is no longer working. What do you tihnk my obligation would be. A moral issue I know.
Thanks to the group problem solved in less than an hour.
Cheers
Dave

Very Good News!! I would do whatever to make it right with an individual that transported it correctly. If turned over to a shipping company wouldn't take any responsibilty for the delivered condition (IMHO). Creighton

Brent
Did you see it in action or was it transported by a company??
My chap sent a friend down to pick mine up and I was able to run through the whole machine and hand him a cold beer.
Sounds like your seller has been a little ecconomical with the truth.
Are new compressors readily available?? I know that there is a seller on Ebay from time to time that sells the drop in compressor for about $100.00 but I guess you'd still need to get someone to charge it etc.
Best of luck mate.
Dave
