I have an old Cornelius pepsi machine to restore. I have it set for 5 cents. when i drop in money it returns the change. It has been tested and is a working coin mechanism. any suggestions? All other mechanism's work and when coin mechanism is by-passed, pop does drop.

I assume this is an upright machine with an electronic changer and not a Corneluis slider? do you mean it gives you back change for your nickle? or that it returns your nickle to you? and then it vends?

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

if the mech has been tested and is good then unplug the mech's jones plug & check for 115 Volt AC @ pin #6 to ground, this is the C.R.E.M. control line input ( coin return electro-magnet) if they aren't getting power from the female socket pin#6, then the mech will reject all coins. (I'm assuming it's a Coinco 7800 series mech)

Yea that would do it! just to be sure double check the voltage reading between pins 2 & 6 (6 will be the hot one ) if its still low then you've got something dropping the voltage to pin #6 probably a dirty connector in the door harness or a corroded wire.

I checked the wire at pin #6 and it is only about 3" long. It goes to what i would call a rely switch. I checked the voltage there and it is the same. Is it possible the switch needs to be replaced?

Hmmm I'll need more info, so is this relay switch attached to the housing that holds the plug? can you post a picture of this switch? if your socket were wired the opposite of the diagram that would put you on pin # 5 instead, which goes to the "correct change only" lamp, (which in turn may be controlled by a relay on some models), how old is this machine? 60's or 70's? and what is the model/make of your coinmech?

It sounds like it's similar to a late 50's Vendo 80 or 144 where the jones plug socket is right on top of the vend relay...
Maybe he could momentarily jump a wire between #1 and #3 to see if the machine will vend...
As far as the voltage on #6 only being 52 volts, thats strange...
What model Cornelius is this?

if i jump #1, #3 & #7, the machine will vend without the mech. the problem is it vends until all soda is dispenced. that is why i'm trying to use the mech.i have an idea it may be the orange wire not sending enough voltage, this is what i'm checking next. thanks steve

of the 12 wires that come up the door to the junction box, only 3 areconnected inside, the rest continue on. the green wire connects to #2 pin on the plug which is hot. the orange wire goes to the switch and the yellow wire goes to #1 pin on the plug and is neutral. the white connector to the left of the plug is not connected to anything.

you should only need to connect pins 1 & 3 to trigger a vend cycle, 7 is normally used by the vending rack to block acceptence of coins during a vend cycle. I'll double check my Coinco manual when I get home tonight...JohnieG looks like you have a Coinci 7800-A model changer, that helps to know which model you have!

O.K. heres a new diagram , if you just wire a small switch (normally open) across pins 1 & 3 without the coinmech plugged in the machine should vend free-play (some machines use pins 2 & 3)
