I would like to say "Hello" from Ohio. I am a new member here, looks like alot of great people and info here. Thanks for the site!! Here's my story: My neighbor Don asked me if I was interested in his Vernors pop machine for 50-. It was sitting in his garage with his 57 Chevy. He is one of those guys that everything is nice at home. You could eat off his garage floor! I went to take a look and it was a Vernors and I LOVE Vernors. So I actually pushed it home 3 houses away. ( It is mounted on casters, how cool is that? ). It had not been on for 5 years or so, but appears to work perfect and gets good and cold. Now it's mine!!! I would like to know the actual value and year, also have a few questions regarding the machine. It is a Vernors Vendolator. Model VFA56K-A Ser.# 408025144 height is 50 1/2 width is 25 Condition is nice, appears to have been kept inside most of it's life. It is a dime machine. Some dimes work, others wont?'>? Nickels work every time. It is missing 3 shelves (I think). The shelves are adjustable for size of bottle. Even works with the weird plastic pop bottles.. But I will use it mainly for...BEER. What info do you have for me? Your time is greatly appreciated. Can't get my pics to work?? Could I email them to someone( my pics ) to post for me?

Thanks guys for all the offers to post my pics. Well.... what do you think? Year, desirable or non, value, are there shelves available. I think a glass door to view the bottles would be cool. Is something like that available? Thanks again for any replies! I may be hooked now......I will now be on the "look out"! '>

Here's a shot of 90wreck on the road with his machine. Your wife should have gotten an "action" shot of you pushing it! (Good thing you don't live on a gravel road.)
I'll let some more of the gang pipe in about repro parts, but you can find the door and shelves as used - someone here may even have some extras.

Welcome! You definitely did not go wrong for $50! 1960's? I think the Vernors graphic is pretty cool. I would think a glass door would be a fairly easy switch. Can we get pics of the inside?
Where in Ohio are you? I grew up in the Youngstown area.

Kenton, Ohio. There's only 2 things that come frome Kenton..... Whores and football players. BTW, my wife is from Kenton.....Want me to tell you what team she played on? LOL! A sleepy little town. Football is it. Really. I am a transplant from being a Nashville guitar picker to Kenton. My wife is an Attorney at Law following her Father and bothers foot steps here in Kenton. Things could be worse..... I still play full time with national acts and my band regionally. I am out of town alot this time of year. '> 3 little kids and I like them ALOT!

Welcome! Great machine looks like a Vendolator 56 early 1960s Love the decal on the side! Can you post a close up of it? You should be able to get shelves pretty easy. they are on ebay all the time check under VENDO there. I'll also see if I can get Randy's email and # from Ozark MO he may have some look under Nostalgic Restoration he has a site. Don't know if they made a glass door that size for that model! $50!!!'>!! You got a deal...... A musician! How cool is that! being away from the family would be tuff though.. I have 3 little ones too - 8, 4, and 1.... they keep me busy! Hope you stick around.... this is a great site.... mainly pop machines... but there are guys here that like about everything... jukes, records/music for the jukes, cars, gas pumps, arcade machines, vending machines and more.... It's all good! And a great group! Again Welcome!

I paid $50 for my VMC56 Royal Crown machine, and it was in no where that good of a condition. You got a good deal.
Eric.. My VMC56 has a clear glass door. That should be readily available...
Pat... cool machine... Looks great.

Here's 2 more......It still running very cold and silently this a.m. Did they change the alloy in dimes years ago, causing them to weigh slightly less? I am wondering why sometimes the dime takes and other times it doesn't. Nickels work fine. The coin mechanism looks nice and clean. I put a little spray silicone on a dime and passed it through several times to see if that would help....but didn't appear to. They take about 60% of the time.

I have noticed that with quarters. The "old" quarters go through 100% of the time, no problem, but the new State quarters stop a lot of the times. I have to reject them and try again.

Thanks for the help. I went to my buddies junkyard and he had a 40cent Pepsi Vendo 56 that someone scrapped. It is nice condition. They cut the coolant lines before scrapping. He said it runs, but doesn't cool. I robbed 2 shelves!!!( no problem, we graduated together and his family are pickers as well. Worked on the road with the legendary Bill Monroe..Bluegrass picker ) He wants me to make an offer. It has the glass door I need, but is blue trim. I can repaint it. Junkyards are the weirdest place you can hang out at. You can't even imagine the different type of people that come there with all types of stranges items. While I was there he (Big John, about 260 and fingers the size of sausauges) bought an 8 ton Galion roller for scrap price., and it ran just fine. Talk about HUGE. We had alot of fun crushing everything from bicycles to aluminum truck caps. Even got to run a industrial Cushman into a a couple of cars just for fun. ....Junkyard Derby!!!! That when I spotted the 40cent bottle Pepsi Vendo 56!!!!! Never had noticed it before. My wife is..... Noooooo!!!! We'll see what happens. It was parked off to the side of the junkyard office. Nice shape. What do you think? Should I part it out? Or resurrect it? It does not have the lighted front. Beers, industrial roller, every hill-jack in town stopping by to sell ( prices are really up on aluminum and copper). How can a guy have any more fun?'>

I'd try and get the whole thing... Though I don't know what to offer.... Ah Junkyards...I just got a score board from a high school that was scrapped... Scrap yards are fun to dig through.. I'm gonna stick the thing on ebay and see if I get any takers. Good luck with the Pepsi machine and post images if you get it!
