Hi gang,

Awhile ago, I bought a neat old slot machine (a Bally's old school style, not skill stop or pachinko) and can't wait to start using it in my gameroom, but I don't have anything to put it on to give it a nice practical height.

I don't have room for just a table, I'm looking for a stand, or pedestal or whatever that will raise the machine up to a good height for playing, but not take up much additional width and depth than the machine itself. I suppose, just like in the casinos.

My machine (See photo) is 16" width x 18" deep x 27" height (plus attendant light on top)

Does anyone know where I can buy a used one or have any ideas?

Thanks so much.

I forgot to add two important things.

1) I am not handy at building things, so I am looking for a pre-made solution.

2) I would like the slot machine's height to be for someone standing up while playing it in my gameroom. I don't have room for a chair in front of it (too many other games in the room '<img'> )

Thanks,
'kito

Kito,
Have you checked into having a machine shop build one?

Well Kito, If you want, I could store it in my house on a stand for you, and if you ever wanted to play it, I'd let you in '<img'>

If you want to stand in front of it, I would guess the dials should be eye level. Use that info when selecting the stand height. When you say not very handy at building things, is that nothing complicated, or not wanting to attempt. I would think something could be made easily out of a few 2x4's and a small piece of plywood, and a can of black spraypaint.

Check out garage sales for a iron fish aquarium stand. Or your local pet shop. I got mine at walmart.

Kito... you had all those coming! '<img'>
I don't know about where you are located but here I would check into one of these
finish it yourself wood furniture places for a corner cabinet or one of those little wooden
ice boxes/corner tables. should be able to find something already made and ready to go
that would fit in nicey.... Or Option B.....

Kito, when I was young my father had a company called
Slots-O-Toys. We mostly delt in slots, poker machines, Blackjack tables, Jukes, and Coke machines. You want the reals to be eye level when you are sitting on a 30 or 34 inch bar stool. If you type in slot machine stand into the internet you should find some places that sell them. Or if you have a gameroom supply company close to you they should have them. They are expensive but you need something that is either really sturdy or made for a slot machine. They are heavy and it is possible to pull it over onto you if it's footprint isn't big enough.

Seriously, have you looked at a Pool-O-Rama type store (around here we have American Sale stores).  These are the places that sell swimming pools, party lights and other party supplies including the Japanese slots.  I think they also sell stands.

This is what I did with mine.  I use a night stand that has drawers.  The drawers are important because when the machine is full of coins it has a shoot that the coins are directed to and the coins go out the bottom of the machine.  I just cut a hole in the top of the night stand.  When the machine is full and I want a few coins to play I just open the drawer to access the coins.  I am 6” 2 and the top of the machine hits my chest.  With a bar stool it is the right height.  You can buy stands made for slot machines but you are looking at around $100 for a cheep one.  Sorry about the picture.  The batteries for the camera are dead so I had to use my PDA camera.

Kito,

I put mine on one of my stereo speakers.  The speaker is 17" wide X 33" high.  It fits great and is just the right height.  Kill two birds with one stone--no extra furniture.  No stool in front, tho--afraid someone will get excited and kick the speaker!!

What is wrong with my idea? '<img'>

A lot of people put things on top - I've seen pictures!!
Isn't that why there is a 'kito' mat?

I like the night stand idea. Find one unfinished and paint it to match the slot machine.

I saw an ad for Specialty Stands in the latest Gameroom Magazine.  Have you tried that malt shop by you (Kilroys?).  I thought I remember seeing slot machines on a page.

Check out a place called THE GAMBLER, up in SPring Lake Park, MN they sell used slots and stands, not sure on price. Also the suggestions of Watsons, or Game Room Gallery in Burnsville has stuff like that. All of these options will probably cost you more than what it could be built for...
Also check out Bucks unpainted furniture in Bloomington?  If you luck out, call me and maybe if I have time I could build you something....?

SignGuy,

Funny that you mention "The Gambler II" store. Just today I found out about it and headed out there. It used to be in Spring Lake Park, but now it is in Blaine.

They had a ton of used slot machine stands! Mostly the standard black laminate ones with "bullnose" fronts and others. Most of those were too wide for my needs, so I ended up buying a black metal one that came from an overseas military base. They all have the sneaky hole in the top and the hinged door below for getting the extra money that they skim off.

It cost me just $50!

The bad news is that they all were too short for my needs, but I bought one anyway because I wanted an official and strong stand.

If I ever need another one, I sure know to go back there again.

Here is their site:
http://www.Gambler2.com/home.htm

Thanks guys,
'kito

I know you said your not handy at building stuff but I'd have someone recess that into the wall partially with the rest of it on a shelf. I don't think it would look good any other way. Then you could store a nice stool like in the Casino's underneath it....... ':p'
