Vendo coin changer

I came across a Vendo coin changer the other day. I had never seen one. It was in OK shape. The paint was faded and chrome would need to be redone. He said it did work and the insides looked decent with instructions still there.
The guy wanted $250 for it. I got my Fun-Tronics catalog yesterday and I saw a few parts in it, but not a lot.
Are these easily restored?
Are these fairly common items?

If it's complete, go right back and get it!
Generally, in good working condition, they'll sell for $400 - $600
Does it have the black or red handle?
Make sure it functions properly as well... Place a few nickels in the hopper, hold the changer a vertical as possible while resting on a table so the quarter goes through the coin mech properly, then pull the handle for the five nickels to come out

If it's missing parts, that's another story...

Well,
I went back to the shop. I couldn't get there right away as it was a 2 1/2 hour drive  away. I would have called, but I couldn't remember (and neither could my wife) the store's  name. The changer was gone. The guy said it was sold this morning.
I watched one on greedBay that ended tonight.WOW!!!$945.00
I really wish I had followed my instincts and just bought it.
I think I am on a mission now.
Are these far and few in-between? How common or uncommon are they?

That's ashame you missed it...
Coin changers aren't rare but they not very common either. Finding one that's in good shape and functioning properly can be a little difficult...
Remember that you can't get parts for these very easily! Some of the suppliers have the simple things for restoration but not any mechanical parts which are missing sometimes...
