Help!  My husband purchased a refurbished Dixie Narco can soda machine for our gameroom and it worked great for about a year.  It recently began to ice up around the coils and the compressor continued to run so we replaced the cold control  (thermostat).  Unfortunately this did not correct the problem.
The only way to stop the compressor from running is to turn the thermostat to the "off" position.  I killed the electricity in order to defrost the coils and it drains just fine.  Can you offer advice as to what the problem could be??  Thanks!

Hi Sharon,

Is it a Dixie Narco 100-300 series or the larger 400-600 series? Does the ice form around the right top corner of the coil or all over the whole thing? If it's just in the top corner, the freon charge is low. If it's the whole thing, check the evaporator fan motor, inside the box, and make sure it's still spinning. Dixies are famous for freezing up if everything isn't just right. Make sure all the shrouds are in place. If the fan is running, and all is as it should be, then the thermostat is bad.
